2015 Silverado Antenna X Installed

This really doesn't need a how to, but thought I'd share some pics. Just installed the 13" stubby antenna X on my Silverado. Wanted to protect the paint and windshield from getting whacked by the massive stock antenna. I really like the look and have had good luck with their antenna's - I had the same one on my wrangler and it worked just fine. I haven't tested the radio out yet, but I honestly almost never listen to AM or FM so I could care less...I use the SD card or Spotify (premium member) on my phone for tunes.

To take off the stock antenna I just used a 3/8" wrench. To install the new one, the adapter with the black bottom that came with the antenna worked perfectly. Screw adapter onto antenna x, then screw whole thing on to he stud = done.

I really like the look. First mod to my truck in the books.d26d4c67b40ce162412f991cde6da536.jpg

Very nice look, website for this product? Question does XM radio stations come through whip antenna or GPS shark antenna? Thanks in advance

Nice!

I got the even shorter version. In hindsight I should've gotten the one you have. I noticed my radio reception suffered ever so slightly

XM reception come through the GPS fin on the roof.

Here is the link to the one I bought on Amazon.

It's funny, I was nervous that I should have bought the shorter one you got Edwin, but was thinking if I do actually need to use the radio, the 13" would at least still work okay. I like the one you put on though.

And as Edwin stated, the XM and GPS all comes through the Shark Fin - the only thing this antenna is for is the AM/FM reception. I think it's a nice upgrade to the look of the truck for $17.

The antenna is flexible and rubbery. The one I had on my wrangler did get a swept back look after many miles of highway driving but it didn't bother me. Just something to keep in mind if that will bother you. The shorter one probably wouldn't do that.

Hmm, I'm not sure if the antenna post would be the same on the Sierra - all I know is it was a perfect fit on my '15 Silverado.

Dang'it.....

The aftermarket antennas are universal and will fit both the Sierra and Silverado. Also i would recommend gettjng the smallest antenna as it looks very clean and reception lost is minimal. For me I just lost channels that barely came in.

I removed my antenna and placed it under my hood and lost no reception at all. :D

I did the same but my reception is crappy :(

Now that's tight, how'd you do that, I'd be interested in doing this.

Have you had any issues with your AntennaX coming loose from the base adapter? I have the 24" painted model (just enough to clear the garage opening better) and mine seems to work itself loose after a week or so.

You've had your antenna hit your windshield and paint? I've got 500,000 miles on the vehicles in my garage, and not once has that problem come into play.

I do like the new one though, looks good.

Not yet, but I've caught it on trees going around someone making a left turn and whacked it where it was moving enough to concern me. And the trails around here (Wharton state forest) are mostly very tight. I had a similar stock antenna on my wrangler and it DID hit my A pillar when on the trails, so I'm being proactive.

Also, I kind of wish I went with the smaller size instead of the 13". It looks awesome when stationary but it does bend back when going over 50. I'll probably never use my radio which is why I got the larger one. Just thought I'd throw it out there. It has come back so far but I'm guessing over time and after my next trip to Pittsburgh it'll have a pretty permanent swept back look. No big deal, but might bother some.
