Bummer. Usually the nice neighborhoods get hit by thieves...then hauled to Ghetto for sales.

My truck sits in driveway. Single-stall garage holds DW car, and truck wouldn't fit anyway.

Just a radom question....

A lot of you guys live in a house with a garage but to my knowledge most of the cars / trucks are in the driveway instead of being in the garage. Why is that?

I mean I know people use their garage as a storage but if I would have a (new) truck and a garage my truck would not be in the driveway.

I don't get it :(

i love my truck and would keep it in my garage if i could but i have a two car garage and keep my "baby" in the garage (02 Camaro SS m6) and store my 4 wheeler in the garage along side of the Camaro.

I think that my dog must be related to Fishbaits's dog. She goes nuts barking at cats, dogs and possums, but for most of the time, not people. I think that we need to get a new dog.

Cameras don't necessarily deter every thief. I had cameras installed and the one over my driveway recorded them attempting to take my wheels. Thankfully, one of them fell into my garbage can which was in his way and the noise he made woke us up and I was able to run them off.

If you want your wheels to stay on your truck, you have to use multiple deterrents, which I have since added:

1) cameras (already had, but they at least will give you evidence)

2) motion activated driveway light (also already had, but was burnt out at the time and I kept putting off replacing it. Never again)

3) wheel locks (only worth the effort if you use the armor wheel locks or the gorillas that spin. every thief is using a lug out socket, so the wheel locks mentioned will actually make their job a lot harder. I bought the armor wheel lock product after my incident. they are gonna have to take the whole truck now.)

4) driveway gate or locked garage (my truck won't fit in my garage, so in my driveway it sits. Had an iron fence/driveway gate installed to keep them out of my driveway. So far so good.)

If you park on the street, you might as well hang a sign saying "take my wheels and tailgate". Because they will do exactly that.

If God actually exists, he would not be excited about you killing someone over a material object. And unless you are a light sleeper with a loaded gun on your nightstand, you ain't gonna do anything close to the fantasies you have of catching them. And they know this. That's why there are so many of them out there.

My strategy is to make them skip me and move on to the next fool's wheels.

You guys rock...really!

How about to give the dog some training?

Yeah right, it was sooo cute when it was a puppy.

She is 10-11 years old, so I don't think that there is much hope for her. When she does go to the doggie heaven, we will replace her with a guard dog type of dog. We had a Rottweiler for 8 years, now that was a guard dog. When she barks it was so loud it echoed. We will be relocating from hot California, in a few years to a state where it much colder, and where it snows. So we will be getting a dog that can handle cold and will much more of a guard dog. I would love another Rott, but not sure with their short hair, if they can handle the cold.

I have a 3 "car" garage, and only 2 vehicle's in it. But that's because my truck simply won't fit in it !! Too damn long.

My truck doesn't fit in the garage and the homeowner's ASSociation will not let you fence in front of the house. Trust me I would not want to take someone's life over a $500.00 deductible. But if push comes to shove I would not back down. Now about that dog?

...so mostly it's about the size and the number of vehicles you got.

I find it weird that in country where pick up trucks are driven by almost everyone the garage obviously is too small - you guys need to work on that. Smaller house and smaller yard could help

A Rottweiler doesn't really care about cold. Hot summer are way worse for dogs.

And age doesn't matter when it comes to train a dog. The sooner the better but you can train a dog at any age. It's actually pretty simple. Usually it's the owner who never has the time....what makes me wonder why they have a dog in the first place.

Don't baby your dog, baby your truck. A dog needs & wants training!

I have a 3- car garage completely clear to park in. But my truck sits about 10" taller than the 7' opening. So unless I get a chop top, she stays outside. [emoji23]

Funny you should mention that...I have a 3 car garage and all of my vehicles stay inside (turns out we are pretty lucky that they all fit). But recently, we were looking to downsize and after looking at many houses in the area, we couldn't find one with a big enough garage, so we decided to stay put. No one wants to build a custom small home with a big garage. Two car garages barely fit Hondas now, so there's lots of trucks, SUVs and more staying outside.

There you go. Buy more Chevy's less Honda's and 'they' will build bigger garages - easy fix.
