Bed Rug and no cover?

So I just got a great deal on an OEM branded Bed Rug, but don't have a bed cover yet. Is it going to hold up ok until I get one? Should I worry about water getting behind it at the front of the bed since it doesn't wrap over the bulkhead? Guys running them without a cover, what are your experiences?

Should be fine. I've never had one on my own trucks, but I know a few people that have. Also, my dealer sells them with trucks all the time, all of them without a bed cover. I believe they are designed to hold up pretty well to it. That being said, keep in mind that they will collect dirt and dust more than a rubber bed mat. Depending on the roads you drive on, that could be a problem prior to getting a cover. Water should drain just fine and not mess anything up.

No dirty roads, my truck is a pavement pounder, except for hunting season. So it really shouldn't be a problem then.

Darth- I see your sig says you have the OEM version. I assume the fit is just as good as the original Bed Rug as well?

It will leak water at the zippers so some moisture will get under it. I saw a pic of one with a deer and blood all over it. Guy went to car wash and came out good as new.

I've had mine for several months in open bed with no issues. I've unzipped the tailgate zipper and felt under it a few days after rain and it was dry. I might pull it out one weekend just to see how it's looking and give bed a good washing if needed. So far I've hauled lumber/OSB, furniture, pine straw and what I'd call household junk after cleaning out storage with no problems. With heavy furniture, two of us lifted to move it around bed instead of sliding.

I've had the bedrug in three of my truck and never had an issue. I ran all winter once without a cover and still no issues.

Yeah, the only difference is the OEM one has a bowtie stitched in to the front of the rug. Still made by Bed Rug. Price was the same even, just had to go through the dealership parts guy to order it.

I've had mine in an uncovered bed for over 15 years (yes you read that right)! Absolutely no problems and it holds up well to anything. Mine has not stained or faded and I've hauled everything you can imagine in that time. I just pressure wash it and it looks good as new!

These things really are great. The company shot themselves in the foot by putting "rug" in the name since it makes people think of carpet. They are not carpet!

Actually, Bedrug is carpet. The nap is polypropylene which is the same nap as many types of carpeting.

I agree but it's more like the outdoor carpet people put on their porches, not the carpet you put in your living room (which is what most people think of when they hear "rug").

I think were "beating a dead horse", but the most common indoor carpet is nylon, but the second most popular indoor carpet (probably due to its low cost) is polypropylene which is also known as olefin which you probably have heard of. Bedrug probably does not want to use the term olefin because most people associate that term with indoor and outdoor carpeting.
