GM approved snow chains

Approved by the CSP but still not used by em ;) Even the CSP has standards when it comes to traction devices for their own vehicles. All is well though, if you like it, go buy it.

I did, for my semi truck. No carrying stacks of chains around on my truck adding unnecessary weight and spending 20-30 minutes along side a major highway in a snowstorm hooking all that iron up while others drive by and throw slush all over me. Been there, done that. No more.

And I am never impressed by LEO standards or military standards for that matter. Too much about budgets and lowest bidder stuff and dweebs in cubicles who make the final decisions.

Our 2010 and 2012 Ram 2500's also said no chains but guess what? I didn't see any clearance issues and nor do i on our 2016 Denali 2500 4x4, and they are full size trucker chains. Added links from the Ram chains to fit the new 20 inch Duramax tires. Dealers can't explain why mgr. say no chains.

It's to discourage their use...if they come loose and rip of a brake caliper, they don't want any chance of getting taxed with eating a repair.

Guys, I still haven't bought any chains/cables, but I'm looking at the Z-Chains. How's that for diggin' up an old thread?

I plan on taking some v-bar chains hunting with me in north Idaho this year. My feeling is that if we get enough snow that I actually need the chains to get back to the hard road, I will be more worried about the snow than damaging the truck. Chances are they will clear just fine as long as you do a really, really, really good job securing them.

Oh enough on chains. 200 of these in each tire and you can climb trees....but you need a trailer, a 3 ton jack, and an electric impact gun...but that's better than putting on chains.?

I went with Super Z6 chains from peerless. I only used them when driving on the lake. They were easy to put on and worked well.
