Leveling kit=Shitty ride

Any leveling kit will make your truck ride rough due to pre-loading your torsion bars, shocks will not give you a soft ride. The best way to level your truck is with a lift kit and set it up at the lowest lift possible, this will retain the factory A-arm angles and torsion position and soft ride.

If you went with a system like this: http://bulletproofsuspension.net/chevy-gmc-1500-10-12-inch-lift-kit-2/... what are the downsides besides having to climb into your vehicle and having a higher center of gravity?

Wear and tear, mileage, load capacity (large wide tires are only D load), tire price, wife/GF will hate climbing up, etc.... However it will ride better....depending on tires.

And after all that time and money, you still will have a relatively weak IFS front end. At that point I would be looking at a dana 60 conversion.

Thanks for the replies, I'm not a suspension / lift expert. I get the wear on tires and other components, but want to avoid any transmission or transfer case related wear if possible. That being said, I just drive a stock pickup.

I think it would be cool to lift a truck but with IFS, doing it right seems like a major pain. Why screw with a lift kit if you'll kill your transmission components?

Maybe there is a way to go independent rear and front and still lift it as much as you want?

A good 4-6" suspension lift will let you run 35-37" tires without a drastic change in driving manners...and without drastic changes to the suspension.

I have an 02 2500hd with 3" keys turned up to 3.5 with billstien 5100s and the only issue I ran into was the bump stops. trimmed the bump stop for the upper control arm down a little and it rides pretty good. Not quite factory but pretty close.
