New Titan reviews rolling out....

So, Ford Front end, Tundra back end, Silverado interior and 7400 pound tested curb weight. Prices match Ford(!), less payload than an F150, and the diesel that weighs like a train and barely pull more than the half ton competitors.

Jack of all trades and master of none. Hate to get hit by one in a wreck though!

and as soon as the first Titan XD gets wrecked, you can be CERTAIN that a RAM Owner will likely snatch up that Cummins ISV engine; and shoehorn it into his Ram 2500/3500 that he managed to blow the Cummins ISB in it sky high.

Man its as if Fred Diaz took everything from RAM when he left, interior trim, buttons, instruments and all...heck he even got a Cummins for it!

Hopefully one of these review guys side by sides one with a new Ram just to see how similar they are inside.

Nissan stands a chance with the Cummins name under the hood, other than that, they didn't try hard with the rest of the truck. Nothing "groundbreaking" that I can see.

That new Titan really looks like an F-150 with different manufacturer badges, very similar to Ford.

The only good I can see with this truck is their choice to adopt the Cummins V8 Diesel. There really isn't any other benefit for someone to buy this Titan. The numbers are close to other 1/2 ton gas engine pickups. They definitely have the right idea going with a diesel V8 in a 1/2 ton pickup but need to somehow get their towing/hauling numbers to be a little higher. With just a couple hundred pounds or less capacity over the gas engines, the Titan with the Cummins is less than impressive. If Nissan wants to take a bite out of the truck market, they really need to improve on their weight ratings IMO. No way someone is going to jump ship from GM. Ford, or Dodge to buy one of these trucks for towing, it's just not going to happen.

The only thing the diesel has over the 6.2 is MPG while towing. The 6.2 will drop into single digits while the diesel chugs along. I'm not sure why someone that does a lot of towing wouldn't just buy an HD truck. I don't understand straddling the fence on this one.

I see no point or purpose to it. It's not a 3/4 ton...... but it tries to be in most aspects minus using 6 lug nuts to hold the wheels on. And up here at least.... the loaded Platinum version is about the same price as a Denali Duramax 3/4 ton..... hmmm...... let's think really hard here lol. So you pay all this cash for a diesel half ass 3/4 ton truck marked as a heavy half that basically has normal half ton capability with the 3/4 ton diesel price tag. Fuel economy..... looks on par with the HD diesels available so what's so special here? Oh it's a Cummins V8 in a truck badged as a half ton.....lol. Seems pretty useless to most buyers if they actually bother to break it down and not just impulse buy. At least the diesel Ram is more half ton pricing with a small engine aimed at fuel economy and half ton truck towing capability. This Nissan is like they couldn't make up their mind on whether they wanted to be the biggest 1/2 ton or the most underpowered and least capable 3/4 ton. Fail.

I have now watched several towing review videos involving this new Titan and it seems to be a huge disappointment for sure. Nissan really hyped this truck and it's nothing special when compared to most 1/2 ton pickups that have been around for a while. It may be a huge deal for Nissan because the standard Titan is useless, it seems their new truck is headed down the same road.

I thought this concept would be a good idea and the truck would be impressive and I was dead wrong after being able to view several tests. Their truck isn't worth the price tag either. Anybody thinking about one of these Titan diesels would be out of their mind buying the Titan and now an 2500HD from GM, Ford, or Dodge.

I really don't know why people talk about the Cummins like it's a good thing.

I was raised in a trucking family, I am a trucker, my dad is a trucker, I have been obsessed with diesel engines since I was a kid. Hell I even went to school for diesel engine techs. I can tell you this, Cummins engines are garbage. It's pure shit. The last good Cummins engine ever put into a pickup was the old 5.9 12 valve. There has not been a good Cummins diesel in a pickup truck ever since.

For pickup trucks, I would put it in this order. I would personally never even consider a Dodge vehicle, and I would NEVER entertain the idea of driving something with a Cummins in it.

1. Duramax

2. Powerstroke

3. Cummins

What are the facts to support the 'Cummins is s***' concept? If it truly was such a terrible engine, why is it still being used?

I am not a Dodge or Cummins fan but I do know a lot of people who tow their race cars and trailers to the track every week and they don't have any issues with their Dodge with the Cummins. They seem pretty impressive when towing and the newest Dodge Ram 3500 claims best in class towing with the Cummins. Please post some facts that makes it a terrible choice of an engine.

I would be willing to bet on the Dodge forums that they say similar things about the Duramax and Powerstroke. There is all kind of nonsense on the internet from the 'mine is best' crowd but nobody ever has any supporting facts to back up their claim of the other being garbage.

if you think the Cummins ISB is a Bad Engine, for the current 6.7L Powerstroke, VIRTUALLY EVERY ENGINE REPAIR beyond an oil Change, you have to RIP THE CAB OFF OF THE CHASSIS!

In all truth though.... that means nothing to how problematic or not the engine actually is.... just says the service aspect of it is poorly designed. Fords have had to have their cabs pulled basically since the 6 liter rolled out... and for everything since the 6.4. That's nothing new.

Exactly.

While the service part may require horrendous actions to carry out a repair, the actual engine itself is actually very nice. There are videos on Youtube of the newest 6.7 engines torn down showing the improvements. That 6.7 is built like an absolute tank, and has a very high end fuel system with a German made Bosch fuel pump on it. They really are very nice engines, Ford just needs to find a way to design an engine bay that does not look like a rats nest, and prohibit repair space.

You really need to give your head a shake. To put the powerstroke ahead of the Cummins is awful. Both the 5.9 and 6.7 are very good.
