oil pump going bad?

I spoke with a friend of mine today whose been a mechanic for years, he's agreeing with a lot of the thought of changing the pump & pickup tube but I'm curious as to how many have used a Melling 10296 pump and either a Milodon 18290 or Summit Racing pickup tube, Summit has the pump listed for $163 the Milodon unit for $85 & the Summit unit for $40. Any info on these parts is greatly appreciated especially being that it'll get me fixing this issue once and for all.

I put a Melling standard pressure pump in my motor from Autozone. $110.00

The summit racing pickup tube is actually pretty nice. I have seen it on a motor and it looked great.

Good news! I contacted a friend's shop about getting the oil pump done and it was a success! I went with a Melling 10296 high volume pump and am very pleased with the results. I wish to thank everyone who was able to provide input and guidance in getting this rectified.
