2016 Sierra Denali - Memory Seats

Recommended Posts

I just picked up my new Denali yesterday. As I was getting everything adjusted to my liking (i.e. playing), I noticed the memory seats do not appear to work as expected. Once a button was programmed, I expected to be able to press and release it once and have everything power into position. However, it appears as if I need to press and HOLD the button until my seat and mirrors fully adjust. Is this typical? If so, this is insane! I know these are first world problems, but c'mon.

So I'm curious if I am just missing a setting somewhere, or if this is really the only was to make the memory adjustment.

You have to press and hold. Same on mine. Why they changed that is beyond me!

If you want 'Auto memory recall' it must be turned on in the personalization' menus'.

Auto Memory Recall
This feature automatically recalls
the current driver’s previously stored
1 or 2 button positions when
entering the vehicle. See Memory
Seats 0 59.
Select On orOff

That is how my wifes Audi works, press and hold. Another thing I like is Audi allows you to change the memory position while you are driving where GM and most of the domestics lock you out once you are in drive or moving.

That's how my 2015 Silverado works, press and hold.

It could be a safety issue, as possibly accidentally touching the wrong button set for someone small could squeeze a large person (and then the lawsuits!)

Probably same reason for taking away the auto up on the other three windows.

In my 14 Denali if I have it in the running position I just push the 1 on the memory and it automatically moves without me holding it, but only when it's in the running position

Both 2015 and 2016 have 'Automatic recall off memory positions' available, if turned on in the Settings Menu..

When enabled, they work differently in the 2 years.

The 2015 will go to the memory position when the fob UNLOCK button and open door, or press unlock button when door is open.(one FOB does position 1, the other position 2)

The 2015 will go to the memory position when the key is used to turn from LOCK to ON/RUN or ACC. (one KEY does position 1, the other position 2)

This means that on a 2016, the seat will stay in the exit position until key is used, instead of moving as soon as unlocked (and before getting in seat) - a benefig for someone that wants the seat back for exit/entry.

Manual mode has also changed from 15 to 16.

2015 with vehicle OFF - press and hold; movement stops when released or stored location is reached

2015 with vehicle ON and IN PARK - press and release - will move with out holding; (turning to off before position is reached will stop motion)

2016 - press and HOLD is necessary for manual recall
