2015 Silverado Exhaust Upgrade?

I seen at me local Chevrolet dealer they had a Borla duel exhaust on display and they're selling those for 1500 installed Personally I don't think its worth the money , Id like to have a moderate/loud sound but nothing too loud,. I'm wondering if anyone tried swapping the muffler to a aftermarket one? I'm looking at maybe a flowmaster 40 series.

 

Just wondering if there is much work involved in swapping the muffler? if anyone done this? what muffler did you use? and whats the sound like? Also do you keep the resonator on?

 

 

 

Also do GM offer a GM Performance exhaust?

GM Borla is your best bet. Around $1.000.00 at GM PARTS.COM

If you can swing the $ for the GM Borla go that route. I removed everything from the muffler back and replaced it with a 18" magnaflow and 3" piping exiting behind the rear wheel and I absolutely hate it. I thought it sounded cool for the first few weeks, but now after 6 months I'm going back to stock.

What exactly do you hate about it? Loudness? Tone? Drone?

I picked up my Borla single in dual out at Jegs, about $100 and had a local exhaust shop install the muffler and custom bend the duels out the back with some chrome stainless tips. Have about $600 total in mine.

I don't think it's too loud (but my wife and neighbors think otherwise). The overall tone is just not what I was expecting, it's hard to describe but to me it's just noise not a smooth muscular sound. But the main thing for me is that helicopter sound in 4 cyl mode.

Pick up a Range that disables V4 mode... I run mine in city driving.

Buy whatever 3" after market muffler floats your boat, a muffler shop can connect it to your stock 2.75" diameter pipe for $60 or so

 

Offset inlet, center outlet - remember that because some mufflers you can only install one way.

Gibson - American made, order the stainless version 409 stainless tubing into 304 polished stainless tips. Perfect fitment, sounds mean (got the dual extreme version w/ exit behind rear wheels) - doesn't "drone" IMO, and 1/2 the price or less than the Borla exhaust......

I have an AFE cat back on mine. Its a 3rd of the cost of Borla. It is pretty quite at idle and on the high way but has a nice moderate tone under acceleration.

I went with the GM Borla. Got if off Amazon for for under $1k delivered. Installed it in under 2 hours. Sounds great, looks great. Plus I got a free Borla hat! Lol!
