Traction Control and MPGs

Guys,

Just lifted the truck 6" and added 22's with 35 MT's. I find that the traction control sometimes kicks in when I make a left hand turn. Conditions:

- Not raining

- In 2wd

- 10-20 MPH

- Typical left hand turn, rolling, cutting off corner (not at a light but say off a main road into a neighborhood)

It doesn't bother me too much, except for the fact i lose power till it turns off. Anyone know why it may be doing this? And a way to fix it?

OKAY, now - MPGs

DIC (and my calculations through a couple tanks) is showing about 11 MPG's for my set up. Is this about what others are getting? I plan on a tune soon, but even at a 1 MPG increase, that is still pretty crappy. Note: I didn't lift the truck, or expect, to get good gas mileage, but damn, would have thought I'd get better.

Thanks

6 inch lift and a very heavy 35 inch tall tire, i would expect about 11 maybe 13 on the highway if you stay under 70. A regear would help out but also expensive.

I remember reading something a couple years ago about people having traction control issues like you are describing even on a stock truck but with a bigger heavier tire. Maybe it was on a different forum.

Did you have your speedo recalibrated for the bigger tires? Could be causing the issue with TC, and why your computer is reading so low on MPG.

Unless there is a correction for the odometer, you are travelling further than the odometer reading.

With a 6 inch lift and 20 inch wheels w/ 35 inch tires I get between 14 and 15 MPG. The best I've seen on the freeway so far is 19.5. Mine has the 6.2 with the 8 speed. :dunno:

I havent had the spedo recalibrate yet, plan on doing that with a BB tune. I knew it would be off a little but in the city 10.5 MPGs sucks!

Ill do the tune soon and well see what happens then.

I wouldn't expect much more with those big 35's....but the BB tune should help.

There is a whole thread on the stabilitrac kicking in on lifted trucks here somewhere. Some times a better wheel alignment was the fix, sometimes correcting for tire size with a tune....

Do know where I can find this tread? I'm having this issue right now. My next step will be to recalibrate the speedometer and see if that fixes the problem.

Sorry I don't but a search should find it.
