Am I Just Overreacting?

It's no help now, but next time just order a starter rebuild kit online. For example, I just rebuilt my Integra's starter...for $18 and a few minutes of my time, it's very easy to do. Or just go to AutoZone for a cheaper alternative than OEM.

That was my first thought was to check Auto Zone or Advance but they didn't have one for the truck unfortunately

Steven, first let me say, I'm very sorry for your loss of your parents... Secondly, it is a noble thing you are doing, stepping up to take care of family the way that you are. This doesn't happen enough nowadays. You are clearly a good man.

With that said, I gotta admit, reading through this thread, things just don't sit right...

1) If you are working 2 jobs to support family, why allocate the resources to a luxury vehicle?

2) Given your propensity to DIY and your admitted mis-diagnosis/repair, is it possible that there is more to your dealer issues than being discussed?

Please understand, I'm not trying to attack you. I have a tremendous amount of respect for you. It just seems that you may have opportunities to make life a little easier on yourself, that's all.

When I bought the truck I put an extra money I had from working before my mother passed and put it into the truck so I have quite a bit of equity in the truck and my monthly payments are only $350 a month. So the Merc is only a few dollars more a month due to taxes and all. Heck sticker price is cheaper than what I paid for the truck. I work two jobs because going to school I can't do a normal 9-5 plus without going into detail but because I am not my dad or a grandparent it makes it a lot more expensive to raise my brothers like no food stamps, more expensive insurance, and not tax credit during income tax time so I have to save a lot for those bills and I am about to put my other brother through college and the other one going into high school. As far as the dealer issues no not really. Although after looking now back at the receipt to the new starter in fine print it did say no returns on electrical but the guy told me I could but like everyone says it aint worth nothing unless written down. Good news is that they are covering everything under warranty. So got all that done and the axle seal, recall, and new brakes due to damage from the axle seal. I may have over reacted but too before they started digging into the truck they shouldn't have got me all started with "That for sure wont't be covered under warranty" after every problem they told me lol So all is well now I guess

Steven, my grandmother used to talk me through these moments by reminding me that in the end it will all work out..

Just have the dealer repair the truck, use an american express card to pay for the repairs. if you don't have one get one ASAP.. it's worth the annual fee.. if they do not address and resolve the issue which should be clearly explained and documented on the repair order with your signature and the service writer's name. after you take the truck back if it isn't right? call Amex and have them dispute the payment.. Amex is the toughest company to get around if a customer disputes the charges, they just won't pay them or better yet, charge them back for whatever was already paid...

then those people on the bottom get called up by the people higher up and things start working out... you have to have life experience in these areas, something you only get with years having to deal with them.. so good luck, pay the repair bill but if they try to say it's something else after you take the truck revert back to the CC company and have them figure it out..

don't get rid of the truck for this. you're gonna get another one and at least with this one you know what you have.. buying a car is a waste for someone like yourself given the limited knowledge i have of you from your posts, you want and NEED a pickup..

Thanks and actually I did have a talk with my grandmother the other day. She supports me either way but still told me it would work its way out. She doesn't want me to get rid of the truck because I wanted it and I made it all my own and she likes it and think it suits me better. I probably will end up keeping it. I think what really helped was the tech working on my truck was super cool guy and has an awesome beard I'm jealous of but can't have one when getting ready for Med school interviews lol Everything actually got covered under warranty so right now my bill is $0 unless they find something else who knows. I really wish I had my truck now with the snow storm we are getting hit with and I am driving my grandmother's spare work Buick that's a 2003 with 240K miles lol
