Thoughts on Delete

Ok, Here's the big question... Should I delete and tune or not???? Has anyone heard of problems occurring after the fact? You know.... No matter what you change on a truck something always breaks. Is it worth the risk of losing the warranty? Ive heard that the emissions actually damage the truck more than not but you never really know. Yall let me know what you think????

Tier IV emissions with SCR is actually a very good system. Emissions have come a long way and are much better concerning long engine health. EGR is cut back, and the engine runs fine stock. Unlike the days of Tier III, there Isn't a whole lot of power or mileage to be gained by cutting off EGR and tuning. Certainly not enough to give up your warranty, IMO.

I personally have tuned every diesel I've ever owned (all powerstrokes), but I won't be tuning anymore.

NO

The emissions on these trucks are a joke, having said that the big risk is trying to figure out if the CP4.2 is going to shit the bed, I wouldn't want to foot the bill if it does.

Flip a coin, I wouldn't have a Duramax that wasn't deleted, you will get your money back in mileage over the life of the truck.

Everyone has their own opinions and will say all sorts of things. I was in the same boat as you when I bought my LML. I was unhappy with the performance in stock for especially with me being on 35's.. I didn't want to void my warranty either. But I fully deleted all emissions and tuned and and straight piped it and I put a fass 150 on it. I did it all with 20k miles on the truck and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Drives 20 times better, throttle response is 10 times better, the trucks feels way more powerful. Worth every penny to me. And my local dealer will warranty Anything that breaks that is unrelated to the modifications. I had a seeping oil pan and they still covered it. The way I see it is that I bought a duramax Allison combo for longetivity. If I wasn't confident I wouldn't of bought the truck let alone tuned and deleted it.

I have also seen the EGR's of bone stock duramaxes at 150 to 200k miles almost completely clogged..ill stay away from the emissions

Great looking truck BTW

I hear so many different opinions.... my dealership have also told me the same thing. They will do what they can to fix what they can within reason of course. I have bought a few trucks from them and have developed an okay relationship there. I want more power.... I want to use more of the truck. I've already made one mistake going with 4" leveling keys lift instead of going full suspension and I don't want to make another mistake. I don't want to start this disaster effect where everything starts breaking after I delete

If i delete when my warranty is up I will be doing a CP3 conversion. The LML is pretty bullet proof deleted other than the CP4. If you delete spend the extra 2k now, if the CP4 craps and you no longer have warranty you will be looking at around 12k for repairs.

You'll like the truck a lot more deleted for sure. The cp4 is the only thing that scares me about deleting mine. On the bright side, emission issues are probably 75% of the problems that these trucks give so getting rid of that can't be a bad thing.

I do not own a diesel truck and have only driven a new diesel once, so take this for whats it's worth. My opinion is that GM sells thousands of these and 99.9% of the owners are perfectly happy with what they have. GM tests these things to last and perform well during there lifetime as well as meet all emissions which can sometimes be tough. So I think if you are looking for a performance gain out of your truck than deleting is a very good option for you however just to do it for the longevity of the vehicle doesn't seem right.

Get a fass fuel system and the cat fuel filter adaptor so you can run a 2 micron fuel filter. Good filtration will help the life of the cp4 greatly. I wouldn't be afraid of things breaking with just a tune and deletes. Make sure you get a quality tune.

Get EFI Live with Kory Willis. He's known to be great with duramax tuning. Bama off-road usually has some good package deals if you buy from them. And for those that have no clue about emission issues and longevity with the duramax. Just good nox sensors, abnormal regens, and poor quality def problems with the Lml. Deleting gets rid of all of that.

And again, you'll want a fass 150 If you tune and delete, if you go wot on a hot tune you will probably run the rails dry.
