Z71 Emblem on a Honeycomb Grill?

Recommended Posts

I have a honeycomb grill coming to replace the black plastic slats on my new Z71. I read somewhere that the Z71 emblem is indeed removable but was wondering how difficult it's going to be to attach it to the new honeycomb grill. Any pointers would be great. Especially with pics. - Thanks!

Hey PinballWzrd,

I don't have an answer for you but I would like to do the same grill replacement to my z71. Where are you getting the honeycomb grill from? I like the looks of it and might just leave the emblem off.

If you figure out how it mounts you can mount it to aluminum flatbar on your grille. And me personally like the look of a black honeycomb in painted surround.

I went from a 15' chrome Z71 grill(Truck is a Z71- Just had too much chrome from the factory) to To a chrome & black honeycomb style and want to do the same thing.

From my short research I believe you would need to make something. Either buy a new Z71 emblem, or pry the one you have away from the mount for the flat slat factory grill. From what I can tell you could buy a Z71 emblem and mount for a honeycomb (I've only seen them in chrome Z71 emblems not the red & silver) and pull the emblem off the mount and place/epoxy/glue/bolt the emblem you want to the mount. (I want to do this with a red & silver emblem)

It will take a little work to make it look clean, you just can't re-mount it the way it is - I checked.

On the factory grill they (the emblem on the mount) are plastic welded to the grill from behind (it does not attach the way you think it would). You will need to break it off carefully and re attach a new one somehow. I was going to buy a honeycomb style emblem and mount, and a red & silver Z71 emblem by itself.. mix and match and re-attach to my black honeycomb grill.

There are other ways you can think up, just sharing what I plan to do.

Good luck!

Hey Tom, I have one off my truck in great condition here in Kansas City. Did the opposite swap you guys are talking about. I want to do a local sale because I'm afraid of what shipping will cost someone. PM me if you want more info and I'll send you my local craigslist ad so you can see pics.

Also, I found a thread on here where some took their Z71 emblem off and put it on the chrome honeycomb. It is not held on like the LTZ is on the honecomb. It has to protrusions on the back and used 3M tape to hold it on. He said he drilled two pilot holes for the protrusions and used the same tape to put it on the honeycomb. I think he used some caulk or glue in the holes he made to better grip it.

I tried using some cheap liscense plate screw holders attatched to the 3M tape that I saw someone else use. The have a flat square back and he used large washers to hold against the back of the honey comb. One has already broke free but the tape is holding on the small amount of honey comb I have it attached to.

Hi Tom, I replaced the Honey Comb LTZ grill with a High Country grill, so I have a Honey Comb grill for sale and will ship it in the box that my High Country grill came in. Here is the link to my add in the For Sale section... FS: 2014 - 2015 Silverado LTZ Chrome Honeycomb Grille

Here is what I tried to use behind it. I got in a hurry and didn't make it work as good as it could have.
