2014+ Headers

I've got a 2014 Sierra All Terrain with the 5.3L. Has anyone put Headers on these trucks? And if so which ones and how is the performance? I'm trying to get better low end torque but also all around performance.

Thanks Zack

My personal preference is to run American Racing LT's. I've used them on my last few GM's as well as some of my cars. Quality is really good. Whether or not you want to run them without cats is a function of what cat back you have, how noisy you want it to be and if you need to comply with any emissions testing.

I want a deep tune like the 90's but I have to run the front 2 cats for the computer not to send a check engine light code and the right back pressure.

Right now on my 38" tires I'm getting 14mpg in town, highway with hills 16mpg and flat roads 22mpg and that's all traveling at 65mph.

A few threads on this topic already. Gen V Engine and Exhaust.

I went all the way to page 10 and didn't see anything that said Gen V Engine. I'm so lost, so if y'all could please post here I would be great full.

Thanks

Shorty headers will be best for idle to mid range power improvements where as long tube headers are better for mid to top end range.

It's be shown over numerous dyno tests that long tubes make a lot more torque low, mid and top end vs shorties. Shorties do have some gains in the mid and a small amount up top.

After a recent install of Kook's headers, my advice is as follows:

1) Headers & Y pipe from Header maker plus a cat back system of any caliber will give you plenty of the "tone" you are looking for.

2) Most long tube header manufacturers have the front 2 & rear 2 O2 bungs welded in already. You will need the front two O2 sensors for the engine to self tune. The back 2 O2 sensors are monitor sensors only, but you will throw engine codes if you do not run green cats in the y-pipe. A way around this is to run O2 sensor stimulators under the rear O2 sensors. OR a better scenario is a tune from one of the major players and just turn off the monitor sensors. I did both, so I can go back to the dealer w/o the tune and not have the check engine light on.
