Any idea what this could be?

On my drivers door, down near the molding I've got some kind of reflection/imperfection/something that I can not for the life of me figure out. It's only visible when the sun is shinning directly on the drivers side of the truck. I've covered anything that could be reflecting and casting it on the door so I know it's not a reflection of any chrome/body pieces.

It acts like a reflection because I can move along the side of the truck and it seems to shift to some extent but is always in the same spot.

The truck is brand new and only has 1600 miles on it. The door is not scratched or dented in any way and it doesn't appear to be something on the surface. As strange as this sounds, it looks like it's beneath the paint. It kind of gives off the illusion that I could reach through the door and touch it. I don't see anywhere else on the truck that looks like this and it's only visible in direct sunlight.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be/what would cause this?

Looks like a hologram from someone trying to polish the paint. If so, it can be removed with the paint correction process.

Not sure what the above means for sure, but if it means you have what appears to be some sort of swirl mark(s), I'd agree.

What kind of paint correction process are you referring to? Is this something I can do or would a body shop need to do it? I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow to have some other (non-related) work done and wondering if this is something I should have them look at.

Nothing a little wax won't fix.

I've had 2 vehicles in the past that had those marks, waxed them, and they went away.

Wash, clay, polish, seal / wax

A top notch detailing shop can accomplish the work.

Thanks a lot everyone! I've never heard the term hologram before, at least not in the context of paint issues, but it's great to learn something new. I didn't want to put anything on it until I knew what it was.

After reading some of your replies I decided to put a little polish on it and see what it looks like today. After applying the polish I couldn't see it anymore with a flashlight (I could before ) so I'm hoping that took care of it. Once the clouds move out in the next few hours I should be able to tell for sure in the sun and will report back. Thanks again!
