That Sig P229 is a nice balanced pistol, you will enjoy it, even if you have to suffer in California.

 

In CA, there's a 10 day wait after DROS (dealer record of sale). It used to be only handguns. Then it went to long guns as well somewhere around the 1990's. I spent nearly an hour in the store the first time going thru paperwork. The pickup day, I was in there for longer. I think I signed my name at least half a dozen times, maybe more. The stack of paper exceeded the paperwork for the car I bought a couple months ago. I thought I was buying house.

 

The gun I bought is a P226, which is a longer barreled version of the P229. 4.4" vs 3.9" . If I could have bought a P226 X5 in 5" , I would have. Nothing around here. The shelves are nearly bare around my parts. Tons of sales.

My bad, I seem to type P229 for some reason because I own a couple, I know you posted the P226 but I typed the wrong model in my response...........Appreciate the explanation of the California law, I am not current on all of their unconstitutional firearms laws.

Buying a hun here is a pain in the ass. As are the 10 rd mag limits and the no mag no fire thing. The indicator isnt bad. It doesnt obstruct view at all

Yeah, I'm already set on removing the magazine disconnect. Looks similar to the old Browning Hi-Power mag disconnect. Looks like just removing the parts, like the Hi-Power, does the job. I was going to do it today, but got distracted. Maybe this week

Can what be reset back? Reinstalling the magazine disconnect? Sure. Just put the parts back in.

 

BTW, modifying the features is not prohibited by law in CA.

Ive only shot a Hi-Power once

To remove the mag disconnect, field strip it, remove the takedown lever/pin from the frame, wiggle and lift the block forward and up out of the frame, drive the tiny pin in the block out the left side and take out the parts, reassemble the block into the frame, put the takedown lever back into the frame, install the slide.

It's in the magazine well, just below the feed ramp. It looks like a couple little thin pieces of metal hanging into the mag well. Pretty tiny part that gets pushed forward when a magazine goes into the gun. When you remove the slide, the part that the feed ramp is part of is a block shaped part shown in my pictures above. To get it out, you have to remove the takedown lever. Don't break anything removing that lever. It comes out without any tools or forcing. That allows the block shown in the picture to come out. If you aren't comfortable doing it, I'll do it when I put the SRT kit in.

Mornin' Chuck,cool handgun you got there.I shot a friend's P220 last year when we were in Cal City camping,felt good in my hand.Too pricey for me though so I bought a S&W SD9VE in Dec. and having a ball with it.
