new antenna

ok guys just got the truck a week ago. the big ant hits everything in my garage so went and got a smaller one. started to take old one off and snap the base broke inside. how hard id it to change out the whole base ?

Take it to the dealer. That's what they're for. Tell them it broke when you were removing it to go through a carwash.

After it's fixed get a better one. I've got this and it looks good and works great.

Would you say it's better than stock? I've always wondered if there was an upgrade antenna that's either the same size or possibly smaller, but ultimately works better.

You have to be careful as well with wind noise. I had an aftermarket antenna before and at higher speeds you could hear the wind from it. The spiral wire wrap around the factory ones is to cut the wind noise out. Another thing I didn't like is some of the aftermarket ones weren't rigid enough and would bend in the wind as well. I don't like that either. Hard to find the perfect aftermarket antenna. Not to mention if you go real small in length, the reception might be weak, especally those of us with HD Radio.

Reception is the same but aesthetically yes it is better. As LaVaDog mentioned above it is not rigid so it bends backwards at higher speeds but it doesn't stay that way afterwards. I have no wind noise on this one.

Probably have to remove the wheel well liner to get at it.

I had to put my shorty antenna on this new 2016 Sierra with the leveling kit the it hits bad going in and out of the garage the 2014 it just clipped the door.

Did you have any problems installing it, or was it pretty much plug and play? Amazon claims it doesn't fit my 2015 Chevy, but they're not always right...

No problem at all. Plug and play
