Avalanche struggling to pull boat

My 04 avalnche z71 has the 5.3 and has a hard time pulling my boat, need some advice on gaining hp and torque with out breaking the bank, I plan on a cold air intake and either a superchips flashpaq or a buddy told me to get a custom tune by his mechanic, I don't think that dual exhaust will do anything with out headers and larger piping but please correct me if that's wrong, new to the site so sorry if this a popular topic and I missed it

You lost power putting bigger rubber on your truck. And I suspect the gearing is too tall when combined with the tires.

I'd suggest going back to stock size tires if you plan on towing a large boat like that.

I can tow my 7000lb sailboat easily with my 5.3

You shouldn't have trouble towing that boat. Find out what gears you have. Gu6 = 3.42, Gt4= 3.73 and Gt5 = 4.10.

JUST PUT THE 265/75/16s BACK ON IT!!!! Don't mess with anything else, none of it will gain you any HP at all... The only real way to get more HP is more displacement or boost, neither of which are economical. The tall tires are causing all of your problem. Also, the 5.3 is not a low rpm powerhouse, just run it fast and ignore the tach, you can't blow it up in stock form anyway...

Are you using the tow/haul mode and 3rd gear on the gear selector? I tow a SeaHunt 234 Ultra with a Yam 250 and fiberglass T-Top with my '07 Classic with 4.8L and 3.23's. It does great.
