New to me 2011 Sierra Ext Cab Chrome Edition 5.3L

Hi all,

Just traded my 2004 Silverado in on a 2011 Sierra 1500 Extended Cab Chrome Edition. I have a couple questions. First of all, there wasn't an owner's manual with the truck but I have that cured since I've ordered one off eBay....should be here in a couple days.

Next question: Does anyone have a source for shop manuals for this year (2011) truck? I'd really prefer the CD or DVD type. Simple Jack offered an excellent, comprehensive one on eBay which covers up to the 2009 models and I've already checked there but nothing that covers the 2011 series. The paper ones are available but man, oh man, are they pricey! I do all or most of my own maintenance work so the manuals are pretty much a necessity.

To the last question.....

Are there many known issues with this model? I tried the search function here but it's not helpful.

So far, I love the truck. Lookin forward to many miles of troublefree towing and driving!

First off beautiful truck! I've got a Haynes manual for my 2010 GMC Sierra, should be the same for yours. Some of the issues are Active Fuel Management valve issues and heard stories of oil consumption. In my opinion I'd get a programmer to turn off DOD / Active Fuel Management. I personally have the Diablo Predator tune on mine, DOD turned off and tune for 91 octane. Also better throttle response. No issues with my 2010 GMC Sierra "All Terrain" 6l80e tranny, 5.3L engine and 3.42 rear-end. I love mine, got a little over 24,000 miles on mine. Bought it brand new with 7.1 miles on the clock.

Again congratulations and you'll love your truck.

Daniel
