GM hasn't said a thing about it that I've seen as of yet

1K for the cameras... unless you really tow a lot and use the cameras all the time, I dont believe it would be worth it and can not justify it. Cool to have by pricey!

Well, my old retired dad just bought a big ass camper and he's never towed one before in his life. I was going to set him up with a $600 setup so he can see behind it and back into campsites better. $400 more for factory integrated might not be so bad for an old guy to learn how to run ;)

I don't get it...how does this system help someone more than just looking into the side mirrors?

I hope my statement did not come off a little rude, I was just saying that unless you can really justify the cameras it does not seem worth it. In your case it makes sense, with someone that has never pulled a camper and is going to start, the cameras will come in handy I am sure, so the end justify the means. However, most people don't really need the cameras and for 1k most people wont buy them after the fact (add on after the truck is already purchased).

 

Speaking for myself only, I know that I will not buy these cameras for my truck because they are not a necessity for my day to day driving. Even when pulling a trailer I am not sure how handy they will come in. Although as I say that, the part of the article says it will come with an extra camera to mount inside a trailer to keep an eye on the cargo. Now that camera would be great to mount on the back of a trailer to see how far you are from whatever you are backing up to. Now that would be very convenient but still not sure if it's worth the 1k.

No offence taken at all... I know I probably seem abrasive on here at times also... don't sweat it. I know my dad is an old guy driver lol

Hmmm... would be nice to have a camera behind the TT. Anyone who's camp ground parking assistant is their spouse, know another set of eyes behind are a very welcome upgrade. :uhoh:

But starting at $999 +++. I can just imagine what that price will translate into CAD.

It's funny, the new Accord and Pilot come with something very similar, standard. When you signal for a right turn, the cameras pop up on the nav screen, giving you a huge extended view of the right side of the vehicle. And the backup camera give you three angles and an overhead view. It's pretty amazing.

 

All cars and trucks should come with this. It would prevent many accidents.

      You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
