Should I Tow This?

This is one of those times I wished I got a 2500.

Common sense says this is definetly a no-go. There's no reason to max out (or go beyond) the safe operating limits of the truck. The last thing I want is to cause an accident or injure myself or someone else.

I do have 4x4, a brake controller and 22" wheels which I believe may also limit towing capacity.

I recently towed a load of about 7000 lbs, and today noticed one of my back shocks is stained with oil residue on the outside of it. Wonder if replacement shocks are covered under warranty ? 32,ooo mile on the truck.

Should be using a pintle hitch to haul this and in the end I would guess you are closer to 12k. As long as you're not on busy roads, take it slow and you should be fine.

What's a pintle hitch?

My 5.3 3.42 is rated for 9400, I tow 10/1500 all the time and it does just fine, honestly it's going to come down to how the trailer is setup, brakes etc

It attaches to an eye which can be seen above the eye would replace your coupler on the trailer now

Ah I got it, I think. The eye goes on the trailer then you put the part linked earlier on your truck

I think you will be fine.....I saw a commercial where a Toyota Tundra pulled the space shuttle. Lol...I don't think I would.

You should be fine. I don't think your trailer weighs 1000lb though. How many axles are there? Our 16 foot bumper pull flat deck is 2500lb (steel trailer) with two 7000lb axles. And I have pulled our JD 4440 on it with my 5.3L with 3.42's.

Air bags are pretty essential though.

If your going to be towing that skid steer a lot with that truck I would get a gooseneck. Handles way better than a bumper pull. And a bit safer imo.

Also I'm sure your aware of this, but make sure your trailer brakes work. Lol.

Oh and check the load rating on your tires. I upgraded mine to load E rated.
