Just got a Flyer from GMC to sell me a New 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD

 

The fine print points out that the Retail Small Delivery Types (018-029) (Commercial Buyer?) "Powertrain Protection Plan" Total Coverage is 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. This plan is provided by AMT Warranty Corp based in Bedford Texas

 

Is this some thing new ?

 

AMT Warranty is also offering warranties for dishwashers & refrigerators ... google it ...

 

My 2015 25HD Powertrain is covered by a "GM based" 5 yr/100,000 (as far as I know) - Yes ?

For 2016, GM reduced the warranty on the gas engines to 5 years/60,000 miles. The Duramax still gets 5 years/100,000 miles.

 

So my guess would be they are trying to get 2016's to move by giving a 3rd party warranty.
