split front stabilizer bar

So I crawl under my 2003 Silverado 1500LS to try... key word is try, to remove the front brake calipers to replace the pads. While under there, cursing and bleeding all over everything I noticed the ends of the stabilizer bar are split. Two pieces. Looks like the top piece has a wedge shape removed and the bottom piece looks like a wedge shaped piece. Did GM make the stabilizer bars to utilize a wedge system or is my bar infact broken on both sides?

Driver side, but both sides are the same

Broken. The corrosion also plays a part in creating such a failure mode.

You ought to see the cab corners...

I can imagine. My corners are okay so far, but my rockers are shot.

Rockers are going too. It's a 2003 with 160,000 miles on it and lived on the Texas gulf coast (including a lot of beach driving) and northern Illinois and their liberal use of road salt. It didn't get much love while my wife had it in Texas for 4 years.
