2015 2500HD Lightbar Lights

I've just mounted the N-Fab Lightbar and would love to see other 2015 2500HD's with their lights on a lightbar. The N Fab site has a 2015 2500HD with 4 - 9" round lights and that don't look bad. I'd really like to see what rectangular lights look like on the front, something like the KC 69 Series. I'm thinking with the square box front end, rectangular might look better, thoughts and pic?

 

Here's my lightbar with no lights currently mounted and the pic with round lights (not my truck).

I don't like the crisp white color that most LEDs put out. I like the old Incandescent type of output.

@Colossus I agree and I can't get use to the LED lenses. I found most do not put out the lumens a halogen can. So I went with the KC Rally 800 series, they're bigger than the sample photo above has. I haven't wired them yet, but I had to see what they'd look like so I mounted them for a few pics. I can't wait to see them lit up, I like the look but I'm going to have to get use to them sticking out a bit. I figure unless I went with something behind the grill, I'd have to get use to any light on that bar sticking out.

Looks Good, I made a bracket and mounted a 12" quality led light bar below the grill and cut in 2 cheap led flush mounts. lights_zpsnboxrcfi.jpg

I've seen some great light kits installed in a number of these forums. I'd be interested to see the creativity inside the trucks too. How are these being wired? Are you adding switches inside and if so, where?

I made a relay harness using a universal Bosch relay and mounted a lighted toggle switch by the headlight knob.

That's great. Thanks for sharing. I am trying to decide what to do to cover that hole down there. A light bar or a grille insert.

Thanks for the comments! I've been taking a lot of pictures, I know a lot of people want to see the wiring. Before I share what I've done I really couldn't have done this without the help of a previous post by colton_m and AZelkhunter and others located at this link:

I used factory switches, I bought two switches to make one switch bank and changed out my current one. So I spent a little extra money but my goal was not to drill any holes or tap into any factory wiring.

I think about $50 a switch. I have a lot of detailed take apart pictures of these switches if anyone needs them, I had to break two unneeded switches just to figure out how to get them out without breaking the needed ones.

So here's the utility box I bought from Fry's Electronics for the relays and then mounted the box in a spot near the battery.

The red and yellow wires are the only two wires I'm currently running into the cab. These two wires go to my aux 1 and my aux 2 switch. For me I crimped ends on them and put them into the factory connector Pin #16 and Pin # 9 at the back of the aux switches. I've cleaned it all up with wire loom. I'll post pics of the wiring going into the cab next.

I just couldn't bring myself to messing with the boot that goes through the firewall and comes out behind the j box inside the cab. So, I chose to go through the fender to the passenger door jam and then through the boot in the door frame. Wire loom fits perfect in there and does not interfere with the door and hides the wires nicely.

You have to remove the inside passenger kick panel to pull the wires through. Once through it's a cake walk to the connector.

 

I do have more pictures if there's something you want or don't see feel free to ask (hopefully I have it). The wiring in that utility box is unique to the KC 800 Rally relays but I can explain a bit of what's if need be. Most of that info and schematics have already been provided in the link I posted.

I used a similar route except on the drivers side and went through the plastic plug.

My truck has the snow plow pkg with the beacon switch overhead. Wanting to do an LED in the lower grill opening and use that switch to power it. Good idea? Issues, concerns? That switch should be ok amp wise I think. Chasing wires down and running to the front of the truck will be the hardest part.

    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.  
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.  
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
