New Sierra 1500 All Terrain owner... Question....

Hey all....

I am a proud owner of a new 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 All Terrain, Iridium Metallic. So far I love the truck - this is my first GM product (previously only owned Fords).

I am slightly concerned and need to ask about the drive. When driving at slow speeds, the shift is very choppy, it shudders, and sometimes jerks and clunks, if I'm breaking shortly after accelerating. Even when accelerating moderately fast, it's still not a smooth tranny shift.

Is this normal? I've got 2000 miles and I'm wondering if I need to take it in to the dealer.

Thanks in advance.

OP you didn't post up what engine/transmission combo you have, either way it does take about 1000 miles or so for the transmission adapt tables to get sorted out in the TCM. The more you drive it the better it will start shifting. I noticed mine was pretty rough and it has really came around now that I am over the 1500 mile point.

I bought my truck brand new and it hasn't had any abnormal shifts or jerks since day one and I'm up to 2100 miles now. Just a FYI. If it was me, I would take it to dealer to get a second opinion.

If you have the 8 Speed transmission... mine has been clunking ever since I bought it. I have taken it in for relearns, a new torque converter. Others have had a similar experience.

You are new to GM. Just the way they are. You will get used to it. (Some call it "learning" mode.) The shifts will become second nature until you get a tune. Then it will drive like a whole new truck.
