2016 Silverado Stereo

I just picked up a 2016 Silverado LT Z71. I opted for the Bose stereo. I am disappointed in the sound quality and the reception for radio stations. I came from a 2013 F-150 with the Sony system and that was great. I don't need it to pound out the glass, I just want it to be clear, have crisp sound and good radio reception. Any economical suggestions?

I've read a lot of people on here complaining about the Bose in the K2 trucks. Not sure if the reason is something to do with GM or Bose, but the Bose in my buddy's '06 Sierra sounds pretty good. The regular system in my '14 LT sounds good though so I can't complain about it. I'm like you, I just want it to be clear and I do like a little bit of bass but nothing over the top that would bust the speakers.

I remember I think it was this past fall before it started to get cold so I was still driving with the windows down. I was beside a guy in a car with probably a $1,000 bass system and my stock system was louder and sounded better. Luckily the big bass system fad is over with, maybe from getting noise ordinances or it just got old. I remember 10 years they were everywhere. Too drown them out I just turned my country or rock music up and sometimes it would piss them off. I guess they wanted everybody to hear the shit they listen to, but if someone else blasted country or rock they would get mad because they didn't want to hear it. Ironic right? I even remember when I took my uncle to the parts store and I was waiting for him. There was a little black kid (you'll see why I mentioned it was a black kid) in the car next to me. His exact words were "turn that white music off" so me being a smartass I just turned it up even more. I heard him go "hey.... hey.... hey" for a little while, but then stopped.

I've had an LTZ with a jump seat for a few weeks now with bose. I think it sounds amazing?

If you find a way to improve sound quality better than that without having some giant honking subwoofer box under my seats rattling neighbors windows please let me know!

My actual truck does not have bose, and I will sorely miss it when I give this one back.

edit, I believe each source has its own tone setting, so if you flip from USB to Radio, XM , you'll need to set them independently.

hmm, I have a new 2016 Sierra Denali w/ Bose and the 6x9 in the doors bump the heck out the door panels (bass is not maxed out, about 70-75%), additionally my 2016 is louder & sounds 2x as good as my previous 2013 Sierra Denali w/ Bose. A coworker has 2015 platinum with Sony was not impressed, sounded muddy at max volume.

I will be adding full sound deadening to my, truck floor doors, door panels, heck everything even the roof, to tighten up mid range and reduce door panel noise and vibration (it really made a world of difference on my 2013), I love going overkill with stuff. oh in the summer it really keeps the truck cool since I have black on black.

I have an LT with bucket seats.

Have you tried with an alternate source (phone, usb, mp3, XM)? I've noticed that the Bose is lacking on some sound..."clarity" that the base radio does much better. Plus, music on a cd/mp3/phone plays much better than FM and AM.

I've been using pandora with carplay in the bose truck. Sounds amazing. Very clear, the door speaker makes my pant leg vibrate.

+1 on the source. I use vox and listen to the same songs on youtube.. they sound pretty crappy.

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
