Plasti Dip Lights

I searched and found some results, but nothing on taillights.

Anyone use Plasti Dip to "tint" their tailights? Thinking of doing lights and emblems.

did the tail lights on my buddys black 2007 chev, he likes it , i dont lol there is no gloss look when it dries. another buddy did his tail lights with window tinting, i think it looks better will get pic for you

I too was thinking Glossifier. Maybe I'll try it. It should just peel off if I don't like it...

Used VHT Nightshade on mine. Used it on my Ram before this truck too and looks great. Got lots of compliments on both. Some people tape off the reverse light but I think it looks goofy as all get out. I upgraded to some much brighter LED reverse lights from Diode Dynamics also and have no issues. Tinting might be easier, wouldn't have to remove the lights from the truck ( not that it is hard ) and you could always remove it later, easier than VHT... you can remove VHT using goof off aerosol and THEN buffing it, but in the end after buffing, it looks just like it did when it was new. I don't plan to remove mine though, although I did have to do that to mine because stupid me tried to move it after spraying and smudged it.

Good thing to remember also is you have to make sure with glossifier that you ONLY get the areas with dip, it will stick to everything else just like a typical spray paint so make sure it's taped good and wind isn't carrying it everywhere ( if you can help it ). I've used dip for years, mainly for the emblems and wheels ( until I get the wheels I am after ). My friend has his tail lights and third brake light tinted with dip and I just don't think it looks right at all. I'd honestly say tint the lights or VHT are the best bet for a great look.

I always use the Testors transparent window tint spray for taillights and finish off with an automotive clear. I've seen the VHT crack and wrinkle after drying. YMMV.

I have read of a couple of people who had theirs crack, but 9 times out of 10 they didn't clean and prep it the way they should have. I've done 4 others trucks for friends and have never had any issues with cracking, wrinkling and drying. After a year and 8 months on my Ram they still looked great and it's been 8 months on this one and it still looks spot on. No clear or anything. No roughing up the lights with sandpaper. Clean them really good and coat them. Mine has 2 passes with VHT.

Good luck man. Post some pics whenever you decide what you want to do. This was my ram a month before I traded it off for my Silverado and the VHT had been on almost a year and 8 months. Easy peasy. Took them out, cleaned them off with a micro fiber towel and spray away glass cleaner ( best in the world to me ) with 2 coats of VHT. Wanted to go darker on both BUT I love how it looks with 2.

Josh, how many coats is this? Did you spray any type of clear after the Nightshade dried?
