Rear vision camera

I have a 2014 gmc Sierra with 21k miles on it. Since I purchased the truck , I have been having issues with the backup camera. About 3 starts out of 10, I get service rear view vision error at startup when I turn the truck on and shift into drive.

The dealer had tried to address the issue on 7 different occasions. They have replaced the camera, installed the updates, checked the grounds and checked the wiring harness from the screen to the camera for resistance. The dealer is trying to say that I am creating the error by starting the truck and putting it into drive too quickly before all the modules can start up.

They claim that when they spoke with the GM engineers, I am the only one who has reported this issue.

Has anyone else on here had this happen.

That's because your camera is the only one that was made in China by Zeng Duong. The rest of the cameras installed in these trucks are built by Zeiss in Germany.

Well, have you tried waiting a few min before putting it in reverse to see if they are correct? Do this 20 times in a row and if it doesn't happen maybe they are right. If it does happen they are wrong.

They are correct, if you just start right up and throw it right into the gear the modules wont have a chance to boot up fully. Personally I start the truck and usually wait about 15 seconds before I go into gear and drive off.

At least wait until the needles in the cluster complete the full calibration sweep before putting it into gear.

I usually wait that long, but not for the entire screen to go through the start up sequence

Had this happen twice now. Once at Lowes a few weeks ago and then tonight. Both times I hopped in the truck and started it right away, and threw it in drive. I'm thinking your dealership is on to something.
