Had a very annoying dash rattle near the hood latch. Removed the 2 Lower torx screws and pulled off the panel under the steering wheel. There are 4 bolts concealed behind this panel. 3 of these bolts were ready to fall out. Tightened everything down and no more rattles.

I found the same thing with my 14. I bought it used and blamed it on the previous owner dorking around in there. I found small black wires spliced in to the headlight switch also. Must have had LEDs or mounted somewhere.

The one rattle I cannot kill is the door panels. The trim on both doors buzzes on just about any rough surface.

Have the same thing on my 15, I asked the dealer to take a look at it last time it was in and they actually replaced the hood latch mechanism - didn't fix anything.

I'll have to pull that panel off today and take a look at it.

I had a rattle underneath the dash that I thought was a loose hood release cable causing the latch to vibrate but as it turns out it was the entire assembly itself. There are "heat stakes" and one was significantly shorter than the others from the factory. Dealer swapped it out and it hasn't made a peep since. It sure was a chore to figure out the cause, however.

Maybe the dealer has delt with that issue before and assumed it was that?

Just picked mine up from the dealer again, it was the same bolt mentioned by the OP and a loose clip behind the headlight switch.

I have what I can only describe as a kind of... I don't know really... a buzzing esque... pressure bleeding... wind noise? I have no idea coming from under my dash for the last few thousand miles (just hit 7k yesterday). I have not been able to figure out what the heck it is. I wonder if it is related to the screw you mention...

I have the same issue, If I touch the panel it goes away. Going to see if tightening it helps.

Edit: Just hit about 8K when it started happening.

That seems to be an easy way to tell if it's the screw causing the noise, mine was the same way - touching the panel made the noise go away.

I was around 16,500 with mine when I first noticed it

I have the buzzing noise in my truck, coming from the lower dash area too. I thought I fixed it a few weeks back by removing the one trim piece where the hood release is, and I tightened up those four bolts in the pics above. But lo and behold it started buzzing today. So annoying, it's only at certain speeds.

Drives me nuts though. Goes away when I push on the panel just like you tho. Gotta figure this one out.

I am thinking about drilling a hole thru the panel, and then putting a round head bolt thought with a nut on the back side (under the dash) and tightening it down to hold whatever is inside the panel from buzzing.

my particular dash rattle was actually coming from the top panel where the speakers and the light sensor is. i just popped the panel off and taped the gold like connectors with electrical tape for "cushion" and my rattle is gone!

That's what mine is doing same thing. I need to do this. Driving me nuts, mine only does it at certain times.

Mine had the same issue under the steering wheel when I bought the Truck, I love how you can see the blue mark where someone actually checked off after it was tightened. They need to adjust their screw gun at the factor.

Yup two bolts were loose... requires a 7mm socket. Bottom left one was barely in

Thanks for the pic, I will see if this helps the issue I am having. Mine does not really sound like a rattle. More like a pressure/air leak or something. Who knows though it very well could be this and just sounds odd.

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
