nbflanagan Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Good evening everyone. I did searching and think I may have my answer, but just want to confirm, and see if I could get any opinions. I have a 2016 with 6.2, and am looking into swapping the exhaust. After looking, I'm considering swapping just the muffler on it to a corsa touring muffler. The touring muffler I'm looking at is 3 in 3 out. Would this fit my truck? I believe the trucks are 3.5 in and 3.5 out, but the stock muffler is 3, is this correct? Anyone who may have done this on a .2, what are your thoughts. I really appreciate any feedback and answers.

I have a 6.2 and I believe all 6.2's are 3.5 inlet and outlet.. so no that corsa that your seeing won't fit direct..
Badass69 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Depends on the truck.... the 6.2 trucks are goofy for 2014+..... the outlet is 3" to the flapper valve. The inlet on my stock one was 3.5" as they all should be..... some of the crew cabs neck to 3" and just stay at 3" all the way to the tip of the tailpipe. Easiest solution.... crawl under your truck with a caliper and measure the inlet and out at the muffler.... then you know. For reference that was my stock catback I took off the truck when it was brand new.
BuyAmericanIron Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 On a 6.2L crew cab here is the way it goes. From cat to right in front of the muffler, the pipe is 3 1/2 inch. Except for the place where it is flattened for clearance around the crossmember. Right before the inlet to the muffler, it necks down to 3 inch. The outlet of the muffler and flapper valve are 3 inch and that is welded to a 3 1/2 inch tailpipe through the resonator and to the tip of the exhaust pipe. On that note, if anyone knows of a stock muffler that is 3 1/2 inches inlet and outlet that would fit in this location, I would like to know about it. Good luck with your exhaust choice.

Not all 6.2 crew cabs.... if any as almost all I have looked at have a 3" tailpipe and resonator. I took pictures at a dealer lot last summer and posted them showing this. In fact in this body I have never seen a crew with the 3.5" resonator and tailpipe from the factory... only double cab trucks like mine pictured above. Makes no sense as the double cab standard bed and crew short are the same exhaust system lol. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk Both crew cab 6.2 trucks.. For reference that is a 5.3 trucks tailpipe.
BuyAmericanIron Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 1994Vmax is correct. My mistake. The 6.2L trucks have a 3 inch tailpipe from the resonator to the tip. Nice digital caliper. The only reason I can figure for the different size pipes and muffler are for sound resonance in the cab.
Badass69 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Could very well be. I just thought it odd guys saying they can tell a 6.2 truck by the tailpipe... I know with the crew cabs I sure can't lol. That 1/4 of an inch increased diameter isn't particularly noticeable. At that time the HD gas pots were the only 3.5" tailpipes on the lot
