TRS HID Light Issues for 2014 Silverado

I am hoping to install my kit this weekend so I will keep following to see what the final result is!

I'm having the same issue on TRS Silverado kit. First off, even with one extension to driver's side, it is not long enough... I had to mount that ballast to the radiator (plastic) overflow. Anyway - lights worked fine until daytime and they flickered while I had DRLs (daytime running lights) on. I contacted them, they said it's an easy fix - the input plug for the capacitor needs to be flipped around. Nothing is easy about getting to your passenger light which is behind the air filter box - especially in the South La. heat.

Anyway, I wanted to follow along to see where this goes.

I don't have any flickering when the driver side light actually turns on but it's a pain to get it to turn on.

I switched the ignitor the other day and resanded the ground spot the other day. Still having the issue.

Swapped the capacitors last night and at first it didn't come on but it eventually worked and did this morning. However the passenger side light never had an issue.

I'm think it may be the ballast because when it doesn't work I get a loud buzzing for 1sec then it cuts off. When it works you don't hear anything.

I'm really getting aggravated with this process because I paid extra money over the DDM kits that I never had any issues with and I'm having problems.

So I flipped the capacitor wiring around and I still get the flicker. TRS is sending a new capacitor.

I also noticed when I first turn the engine on, the driver's side ballast has a loud whine that lasts 3 or 4 seconds. Then it quiets down but the whine is still there - anyone else experience this?

This is my first go-round w/HID and I'm only a week in, so the verdict is still out for me.

I have swapped the ignitors, and the capacitors and still have the issue.

I know when I call them they will make me swap

Something else. It's getting ridiculous that I spent 200 dollars. They will not replace anything yet.

This is making me not wanna get this kit...

It worked great in the first few weeks. Since then it's has never worked properly.

I'm constantly have the switch the on/off auto switch to get them to work.

My driver side makes a very loud noise when it doesn't work then it cuts off. When the light works it's very quite.

I'm planning on calling TRS today but they won't replace anything only make we switch things.

I've had the kit installed for months, haven't had a single issue.

Received a new capacitor from TRS but I still have the flickering with DRL. Around the same time of my original HID install, I put LED bulbs in the fog lights... surely that's not the cause but I'm going to pop the stock, fog bulbs back in tonight and give it another go tomorrow before reaching out to TRS again.

I'm with Fondupot here. I've had mine for a couple of months and they work fine. (Other then my eyesight going bad and wanting 55w ballasts) One of my ballasts do have a slight buzzing noise if i pop the hood but that's about it.

Well I have now tried the following:

1. Swapped ignitors

2. Swapped Ballast

3. Swapped relays

4. Swapped bulbs with stock stock to see if it's a problem with the truck.

I still am having an issue with my driver side bulb not coming one all the time. TRS customer support is crap. Everytime I call TRS they do is say swap something else. They have no solution to anything.

I'm thinking it has to be the capacitor or the bulb. I don't think it's the bulb because after flickering the on/off switch a few times it comes on.

Anyone else still having this issue?

I have an idea. Did you check the connection between the bulb and the ignitor? That wire. Or possibly the signal wire? You've eliminated most of the things for error except for the bulb, capacitor, and wiring.

Swap the bulbs around and see if it follows. That woulda been my first move haha

i recently had an issue like this too. my DRLs would flicker but only on the drivers side. they worked fine when the auto mode kicked in so i ordered another capacitor and the problem stopped. switched my ground to a better one to be on the safe side. try this if you havent already- ground the capacitor directly to the negative terminal and if it still flickers, try a different brand bulb. if it does it with a different brand bulb then you know its your capacitor. TRS may have a bad batch of capacitors so you may wanna try another company
