Looks like I'm getting a 2017

Ordered a Summit White 6.2 CC Standard bed Ltz Z71 on April 25th and it has sat at 1100 the entire time and is still there today. I spoke with my dealer last Saturday and according to his contacts at GM my truck was not going to be produced. So he placed the order again as a 2017. Spoke with my dealer again today and said that the order has already moved to 3000. So in 7 weeks no movement on the 16 and in 4 days the 17 had already gone to 3000. I'm excited that I'm finally getting a truck, I'm not excited to be paying a new model year price though.

You shouldve paid the 16 price since it was already dealt at that price and gm couldnt give you what you ordered

raptor it just does not work like that. The dealership made the mistake here (if you see it as that) and the buyer will do better with the 17 anyway. If he got a 16 when the 17's would be in in a few weeks - it would already be devalued.

I'll bring that to their attention. We never had an agreed price yet since we had no idea what rebates would be available when the truck was delivered. I am going to get supplier pricing, farm bureau credit, and hopefully a private offer.

I bought off lot and have never ordered before...what do the numbers represent? I'm guessing a production status or something.

3000 is an event status code. 3000 - Order Accepted by Production Control

That's correct. The 2017s are in production this month and will be sitting on dealer lots in August. Getting a 2017 right now will give him a full model year before depreciation hits hard. The 2016 is already technically one model year old this Summer. Who knows what they are going to do with incentives for the 2017s. I would imagine that the 2016s will get some major discounts in order to clear the lots.

Already happening. I got my '16 at 15% of MSRP (sticker) last week.

As we all know, 15% turns into some significant $$$$s with stickers well north of $50k for premium/loaded trims.

Not sure if the 15% was regional or national... (??)

I'd def. go with a dealer flub on this as the last 2016 order date for crew cabs 2016 model year was 04/21/16. You placed 4 days after that.

I was told that the last day to have orders in was May 12th. I've even see guys on this forum that placed orders after mine that have been built. Outburst ordered his on April 28th and as far as I know it was built and shipped.

Just check the status of my order. It's now at 3300. The original TPW was 7-25 now it's 7-18. I hope I can get it before the end of the month.

Likely the original order was built, shipped and sold to a favored customer at a premium price.....then you get the reorder and you get it when you get it

Had that happen to me when the 4 cyl '80 Citations were selling over MSRP after the 2nd gas shortage...couldn't prove it, but one identical to mine came off the carrier and I was told it was ordered by someone else.

Now l always buy new off the lot or showroom floor......has the advantage of not being stuck with one earmarked for me with out of the box problems/minor body damage that has to wait to get fixed...usually test ride half a dozen before I buy.......now I always get the pick of the litter from whatever dealer is willing to give me the best price.

Hmm...5/12 was the final date of start of production cycle, and the final build out for 2016 is 7/2/16. 7/11/16 is the start up for 2017 crew cab production. Final cut was 4/21/16, and final consensus 5/1/16 for 2016. Idk what to tell you LOL. Could be possible that they made some changes or snuck in an extra order or two. Crew cab 1500 starts before double and regular cab but ends before double and regular cab (my guess is transit times via Mexico).

Did your dealer order the 2016 as a sold order or a stock order? That may have something to do with that being so close to the end of the cycle.
