2016 GMC SIERRA IDLE

I drive a 2016 GMC SIERRA SLE with the 5.3l Does anyone has their idle drop below 500 rpm once you come to a full stop.

Does the truck seems like it will stall?

Any ideas?

I took it to the dealer and after a week of testing the they connected a scanner while driving and it showed an open wire somewhere and it supposedly was the mass air flow sensor.

The code did not show on the truck just the scanner.

After not even a week it started doing it again but this time the check engine light came on.

With only 1300 miles on it.

Good afternoon deputy,

I am sorry to hear of this reoccurring concern in your Sierra, and apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused you. If you would like to bring this back to your dealership, I would be more than happy to offer an additional layer of assistance while you are working with them. Please private message me with more details if you would like my support.

All the best,

My truck has done this since it rolled off the lot. I sometimes put it in neutral to make it tolerable. It's never stalled but its come really close.

Sadly, I drive so much I have not been able to have it fixed.

So yes, this seems to be fairly common a problem. I've read anything from lifter problems to the frame being slightly out of spec and needing the motor mounts shimmed.

If you can, pleas take it in, and let us know what they find out. I can't get mine off the street to put it in the shop, and the shop is forever out of truck loaners.. and I just dont want to rent a truck for 2 weeks while they look at it.

when my truck was stock and i ran regular 87 octane, it would do this all the time.

I started using 89 octane and it smoothed out a bit, but I would still notice the drop once in a while.

Eventually though, I had my idle rpm raised to 600rpm by my tuner. Truck idles 100x smoother.

It has the stock air box.

Thanks

The dealer replaced the ECM.

My 4.3L idles at exactly 500 rpm when it's warmed up with limited accessories. Never acts like it's going to stall though.
