Exhaust system

I have 03 1500HD with the 6.0L. I'm looking for a good performance exhaust but I also am not 16 anymore so I'm not trying to wake the neighbors at night. I'm also not trying to drop $600 on an exhaust. Any thoughts?? I got a quote from local guy, $450 for true dual FloMaster with 4x18" tips.

On truck now I have:

-BB tune

-3" leveling kit

-Spectre CAI

-NGK plugs with MSD 8mm wires

-Monroe shocks

No flowmasters. A 14 or 18" magnaflow will dit your needs

flowmaster is harsh until "big block" or "HD" or "suv" versions.

the perforated mufflers are terrible, hence the appeal for flowmaster.

just gotta get the right ones.

like manual transmissions with the same title, they are all different.

internet is not an easy place to get real answers.

big flowmaster is good.. you really don't need dual pipes either.

Thanks. Got a used magnaflow muffler I was looking at from a local guy. Really good price too. Its 18". So I'll probably go with that

I've heard over the years that you likely won't see much performance gain as GM is already running decent exhaust systems as is as far as flow goes. But the sound will be nice. I'm with you, don't need to wake up the neighbors, but something that I can hear and be proud of when my windows are down, but not annoy me when my windows are up. Then again I now drive a Diesel with the blasted DPF so that's a mute point since I can't really modify the thing all that much as I have to have all the emissions stuff in place for the emissions testing here.
