Required filter question 2015 gmc 6.6

On page 11 - 11 of the Duramax supplement there is a simple statement under the list of replacement filters to only use the specified filters. Not in my other gm owners manuals. Does this trigger free replacement under Magnuson Moss? Does it void warranties if I deviate?

It all depends on the precise wording.

 

Edit: I just looked at it and I would say no. To vague. If they said, only use GM or AC Delco brands to maintain warranty then it would have to be provided. They are playing on words to get you to buy GM filters. The OEM is always going to recommend what makes they money.

Yeah but there are better products for better prices. And if GM says you must only use their products to maintain the warranty, they have to give you those products for free.

And keep in mind that AC Delco makes no filters. They are sourced from 3rd party filter manufacturers that have labeled them as AC Delco. You can use filters from any of the reputable filter manufacturers like Wix or Donaldson for instance.
