So have any of you purchased the new Metallica CD yet? What did you think of it?

I was very disappointed. Not only is the music itself bad, the recording quality is terrible and that snare drum sounds like he's beating on a soup pan. Gives me a headache after a few songs.

I'm glad I only spend $9.98 on the CD but I wouldn't mind having my money back even if it would leave a hole in my large Metallica library.

In the back of my mind I'm hoping this was a joke and they'll be releasing the real album soon but I know I'm just dreaming.

the day it was released, a radio station here played the entire album through out the day. i didnt really care for it either.

I didn't even recignize them it it sucks so bad. Its just not the same Metalica any more.

Good, I'm not the only one. I went out w/ one of my friends today and we stopped by his girlfriends house and she had a cd going and I couldn't recognize the music, it just sounded like a local band or something like that. I was shocked to hear it was the new Metallica. They've been one of my favorite bands for a long time, but I'm not going to waste any money buying this cd to "complete" the collection.

Haven't much cared for anything after the Black album. Surprising, since Ride, Master, and Justice were such masterpieces. Oh well.

I heard bits & pieces of one of the songs, didnt thinktoo much of it.

Ithink alot of it is about the fact of their age considering they drank alot (among other aspects in their lifestyle)20 years ago.

Actually I think James needs to get off the wagon and start hitting the Vodka again. They made better music then.

Personally, I think the band fell apart and James just hasn't realized it yet, they really should've taken Jason leaving as a BIG sign. Besides that, this is there first "new release in a loooong time. I mean, they've only released three new songs in the past few years, one for the MI2 soundtrack and two on their S&M album, otherwise it was just redoing old favorites.

Personally I prefer all of the black album to the newer stuff over the old stuff, but this new cd doesn't fit either category, it's just more or less cr@p to me.

I'm a huge Metallica fan. I have at least 1-2 copies of all their previous releases, plus who knows how many imports. The new album pisses me off. They have two guitars and one bass in that band and all I hear is Lars having a seizure on the drums. All I have to say is BOB ROCK NEEDS TO GO!!!!!!!

I've been listening to the new CD all weekend and I can only stand the first 3-4 songs, and even those are irrating.

Yep I thought wow they done remastering their albums 56 times and recording Unforgiven III and are finally going to get a new album out.. Bought it and I was like I must have got the wrong CD because this is sucky... IMO

I haven't got a chance to hear it yet, but I'm going to hear it tomorrow or Wednesday with my friend who works in the local music store. They let you listen to stuff before you buy it if you want to.

I am however going to go into this with an open mind though. I used to play in a metal band with guys who worshipped Metallica. I remember when the Black Album came out everyone who loved Metallica hated it at first. Then I remember when Load and Reload came out, everyone who loved Metallica hated it. All because it wasn't the same exact thing as Mill'em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...and Justice For All. The people who hated the Black Album came around and started liking it, then they hated Load and Reload, then they came around and started liking it.

I for one like it when bands change up their sound. If I want to listen to the same stuff over and over I'll just listen to the same album over and over. I think it's cool when they try new things, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but at least they tried either way.

I'll give my review later on in the week after I go to Cheap Thrills and listen to it

Maybe they'll learn to concentrate more on the music now than worrying about what us downloaders do.

The black album and the s&m album was great imo, but thats the only ones I can listen to.

The entire album stinks. My friend, who is a diehard, will do anything to defend the honor of Metallica, fanatic even says this album is crud. I mean there are NO SOLOS!!! A Metallica album is not complete with out a spotlight on Hammit for few seconds as he throws down hes mad skillz. And don't get me started on their new bassist, I can't stand him, and he looks like retard, and acts like it too.

Dude....don't scare me like that. I'm already shaking with excitement for that concert and they're not even coming until early August...
