How are these shocks (front and rear) compared to the Bilstein 5100's...The Bilstein's are so stiff and rigid they beat me to death but make a great towing experience...I tow an 8k pound camper...?

Shane,

While I didn't have 5100s on all four corners of my truck before I swapped over to the Boss Coilover, I did have them on the front of my 2009 Silverado for about 8 months. Like you, I was wondering what all the hoopla was about the great Billstein ride, but the results I felt were far less than admirable. I talked with Alex at Halo for quite a few months before I pulled the trigger and opted for the Boss Coilovers (which had never been available for GM trucks).

Well, once I had them installed, I was amazed! Even though I was still running my Rough Country shocks on the back axle (and let me tell you, Rough Country is the truest statement for a name brand), the difference in ride quality was beyond words. When I say "beyond words" I mean that I couldn't fathom a phrase or group of thoughts that could convey the feeling I had when I took the first ride in my truck after the swap from the 5100s to the Boss Coilovers...it was like floating on a cushion of air. No longer did I feel every crack in the road, separation of concrete, or Oklahoma's washboard roads...hell, even off road and jumping curbs have a whole new meaning.

I've been in the Coilovers and rear shock kit for 2 months now and will never regret the choice I made. The installation was easy and straight-forward and the results are, what most would consider, unimaginable; I have a whole new love for my truck that I have owned since 2009.

If you have ANY thoughts about purchasing this kit, please refer to my review here for the Boss Coilovers as well as here for the rear shocks that complete the "Ultimate Kit". My review and utter approval of the Boss Ultimate kit was what has triggered another member to sell his 5100s before he ever installed them and go straight to the Boss Coilovers instead.

Can you please post additional details on your tire fitments? I'm hearing a lot of claims that "we can run this and run that, but not this", but all you say is "295/70r18 will work with ease", etc.

I'm sure you know that 295/70r18s can vary widely based on manufacturer. You also know that offset affects fitment greatly.

Can you please clarify the exact tires that you are using, the height of the coilovers (is that the ultimate kit at 3", etc) and the rim width and offset, as well as pictures of the clearance at full lock? I think that will go a long way toward making the forum crowd trust in your company and place orders. From what I've seen, you're making a solid effort to be transparent in your marketing, and I think this would help quite a bit [emoji1360]

You can run a 35x12.50, here is our truck, minimal trimming to the fabric in the wheel well. ^ 305-70-18 still did rub

Yo Alex, I'm still interested in tire/wheels specs on these fits, including pictures of where it rubbed but was trimmed.

Thanks [emoji1360]

I'm honestly not in the market for myself right now, but I think it's prudent to share pics and specs if people are going to make a purchasing decision with your posts in mind. You don't want someone to choose your setup over someone else's based on your claims and then be unsatisfied with the fitment because your setup was the 1 in 10 that barely squeezed.

Plus, it just helps folks trust y'all. Not that you're not trustworthy (I've never dealt with you or met you) or transparent (you might be). But going to the effort to be overly transparent here might pay dividends for you [emoji1360]

There are several real world reviews out on these already

Also, they have been on Ford's for years. It's also incumbent on the buyer to do some research. I'm no engineer but I would bet the shock it's self is the same with some fitment differences due to one manufacturer to another. Keep in mind, this is a guy (alex) who owns, helped design and manufacture and is selling these shocks. All done in the U.S.. if you have a problem with them, I'm sure he will work with you. Everything made has a lifespan and there are always one or two in a batch that have a bad unit. That's where you prior research into the company comes in. Alex always answers the phone, will answer all your questions and won't hang up until your ready to hang up. When was the last time you got customer service like that on anything? Personally, I'm buying a pair or a set and if they go bad I'll worry about it then. Some things you just can't keep overthinking. And no, I didn't get anything free not a t-shirt not a decal, nothing.

Is this in response to me? If so, I'm confused. Nowhere did I talk about the quality of shocks or failures or "prior research of a company". I'm merely suggesting that he post supporting/clarifying info for claims he made in this thread about being able to fit 35's.

Congrats on your decision to buy a pair. I'm sure you'll be happy. But I'm not sure that's going to help someone who buys these and then figures out they might not fit the 35's they had already picked out because their tire brand, wheel offset, UCAs, or fairy dust is different. Unless Halo gives away installed body lifts.

Well, people have already posted pics, talked about tire sizes and specs. I don't think anyone has been unsatisfied yet, well, except for the forum moderators who wiped out all the previous posts about this topic two weeks ago. I honestly can't see how that would happen if you ask questions before you buy. not that your not Trustworthy and transparency? those two words alone sum up exactly why I said what I said. I'm not bashing you but I just don't know why people make these type of comments when their not interested in a product and more importantly, when they have not even inquired with the designers/owners/ current owners with specific questions about fitment, specs, etc. Other forums talk specifically about these units and setups and was done so here also until the thread was taken down. Ask questions before you buy , send PM's to members who own already and do research and talk to the owners. IF your in the market. :)

Can't quote your post because you messed up the tags, but...

People posted pics at a distance of 35's on a truck and said "fit 35's with small trimming of liner!" That's not really what I call detailed information or "pics and specs", but whatever.

I'm not dogging on the coilovers and I'm not saying anything about Alex's character or business. I'm freakin asking for more information. And I suppose I could call him and ask a bunch of questions and then come back here and post all the answers. But then it's all heresay and I don't understand the point if he's already said he's here to answer questions. It would seem a question about something he posted would be fair game. Is that not doing exactly what you just said, "inquired with the designers with specific questions about fitment"?

How about we put the words/weapons back on ice, grab a beer, and wait for Alex to post pics, as he has promised? [emoji1360]

I can't post pics because we are not an approved vendor. Send a PM

As I said 35x12.50's will fit with our kit...but they do rub the sway bar and the UCA at full lock. We will be moving to a 295-70-18 Cooper STT Pro. We tried them and no rubbing whatsoever.

Very interested in seeing pictures, especially of the STT Pros because I have personal experience with that exact tire on these trucks [emoji1360]

Just thought I'd give a review of the Boss Coilover Shock set I bought and installed last week. I am very happy with the setup, customer service from Alex and the overall handling these deliver. I had Bilstiens on my last Sierra and these are far superior in my opinion.

Below is my review of the Boss Coilover shocks as well as the rear shocks. Keep in mind that I am no truck expert like some of you guys so I may have you guys yawning a little.

I received the set within 4 days of placing the order. Before I had ordered them, I had several conversations with Alex because of my uncertainty with suspensions. As I said, I do not know much about truck Mechanics. I can do a few things but most stuff, I look on this forum first to see if I can find the Info. I need, however in this case Alex always answered the phone and wouldn't hang up until I couldn't talk anymore. Can't imagine what he was calling me when I finally did hang up icon_lol.gif .

When I got the order, I immediately began to open the boxes. I was amazed at the packaging. Double thick cardboard, Styrofoam end caps in the box, coilovers separated in their own plastic sleeves and plenty of paper packing to guard against any possible damage. Same goes for the rear shocks. So as I unpacked the front coilovers, I felt like a kid during Christmas digging to the bottom of my stocking. I pull out all the paper, then I see the shocks. I pull those out and gaze at the thing that literally looks waaaaay to good to put on my truck, Then I push away more paper and find the shims, then some decals, then the spanner wrench, then the blocks and u-bolts. All of this neatly wrapped in heavy paper so that there wouldn't be the slightest possibility of damage. My point being, nothing touched anything else in the box and it demonstrates the detail and attention that not only goes into the production of these shocks but carries over to the very end user in mind.

I begin to contemplate doing this job myself and remove my front tire to look at my existing Ranchos. I decide I can do it and have the drivers side on in one hour and the passenger side on in a half hour. The install went very easy . My truck is pretty much stock with the exception of a 2 inch level so I ordered the coilovers from Alex with a 2 inch level. After the install, my truck was evenly level and looked great with a little bit of the red springs showing. I should mention that these coilover shocks are extremely well made. Before I found out about these, I was looking at several other brands to include Fox, King and others. After receiving these, I can honestly say that these have the most weight and feel the most solid. Luckly down here in S. Fl. there are numerous truck shops around so I was able to handle several different brands to compare.

I also have to say that not one of the sales persons in these stores spent much time with me either. At one point a customer began helping me and the salesperson walked away. I walked out. As I said earlier, Alex wouldn't get off the phone with me until he was sure I understood everything he explained to me.

So my 60 mile drive today consisted of highway driving, local, heavily patched farm roads and some off road gravel type roads. The ride on all of the roads was nothing short of fantastic. The truck handles like a truck. In my opinion, Rancho shocks are not for trucks after having these Boss coilovers installed. No more dipping in turns, no more bouncing on every bump, dip or drop. Rebound is phenomenal to the point the coilover is almost trying to not let you know that you just hit something. Highway driving is much more of an "in contact" feeling with the road. It literally feels like the wheels are staying planted on the road. There is a bit of rigidness to the feel but its a welcome feeling like a truck is suppose to feel like nothing more.

Although I haven't mentioned much about the rear shocks, they are every bit as amazing as the front coilovers. together, this pair of Boss Shocks really made me feel like I have a truck again. Thanks to Alex for all of the time you spent with me assuring all of my questions were answered as well as being apart of this forum.

Lastly, and without exaggeration, I have to say that this purchase, including the customer service is really the best I've ever seen. The product is well made and well packaged and delivered quickly. Several people have replied via posts noting ways they believe Alex can "prove "his legitimacy" and his transparency, etc. Several of us have bought these kits at full price and at the discount sale price and all of the reports on functionality and other factors were all favorable so in my mind Alex has surpassed Legitimacy and transparency. We all know products fail at times, after all, mechanical load bearing parts take the brunt of the work and the load we put on our trucks. If this happens, I'm sure Alex will be there to do what he can for us. At least in my mind, I believe Alex has a great product that he stands behind and will be here for all of us, whether you buy now or later. I will definitely be a return customer.

Great review AT and glad to hear the Boss coilovers met your expectations.

Anyone looking to do a 2-3" level/lift for a Silverado or Sierra 1500 should consider this option. Seem like a top notch product and several reviews have stated their customer service is very good too.

I added a set of these of these over the weekend. They are awesome! Set at 2.5" lift in the front and added a block in the back to gain 1".
