Front Receiver Hitch

Installed a Curt front receiver hitch on my 2500 today. Yep, a class IV 2" front receiver hitch. Got if for a variety of reasons, but one of them is that it will make maneuvering trailers around inside my pole barn much easier. I rent space in my pole barn during the winter for folks to park their boats and campers.

I might end up having to go that route for parking my boat if I can't make the swing into where I'll be storing it. My '73 had a front ball on it, made maneuvering the uhaul trailers easier for my dad and grandparents when they used to run a mechanics/uhual place. Prevented me from having a lot of front end damage when I bounced off a guardrail in that truck too :-D

Yes, spotting hitches have been used forever, now instead of a fixed ball you can use a receiver for anything from winches to bike racks, risers for canoes...if you can attach it to a receiver you can mount it on your truck.

Isn't life wonderful! You are correct, if it can attach to a receiver it can be done. Really surprised that more folks haven't considered something like this. I was a little naive myself about doing it till I looked into it.

The reason I didn't go that route is limitation on the winch paltforms...not a high enough rating for what i wanted when I was looking.

If this was something that was a unique fabrication that hadn't been done before, then pics would be worth taking to share. A front hitch is a common addition that you can get at any hitch place and there are plenty of pictures online.
