Dealership Oil Change

Do y'all make an appointment, or do y'all just show up, or is it dealership specific???

 

5500+ miles on the clock now; and the OLM in the display is reading 29% left, so I have plenty of time left.

 

Also, will they chastise me, or attempt to deny future warranty stuff because of my "oil catch can"??

depends on dealer for mine they have a quick lube setup and can do cars at a time so just drive up.

 

I doubt any grief on the can.

I got 4 free, no issue, make appointment, wait 90 minutes, leave disappointed it takes 90 minutes - so it goes (included tire rotation also)

 

Tell them your on work lunch ... and it HAS to be within 60 minutes, might help

For the 4 free, DO NOT exceed 6k miles per oil oil change or you will get less than 4. Remember, they expire at 24k miles. Do 1 at 6k, 1 at 12k, 1 at 18k and the last right before 24k.

I always make a appointment, drop the truck or Enclave off and then the wife and I go out for breakfast and pick the vehicle up later in the day. I doubt the guy doing the oil change will even notice or know what he is looking at as far as the catch can goes.

I just show up to my dealer. They have literally 50 bays to do these things in so I pull in and they do it. I went every 5k for my free ones. Nobody said anything.

Most dealers got over that and no longer worry about how many miles.

My dealer said I could get one done every day until I used up the 4 free on the 14 and now with the 16 they cut it back to 2 free ones.

I usually make an appointment for the mid afternoon, and stop in on my way home from work. My dealer requests appointments be made. They are always busy when I arrive. Usually takes 60-90 min with tire rotation.

Depends on the dealer. Mine doesn't care.

 

I schedule service online through my dealerships website.

Some dealers will let you schedule, some say just bring it in and drop it off or wait. Wait may be 30 min or 3 hours. I've seen the service drive with 8 cars waiting for oil changes and they only have 2 lanes dedicated to the lube stuff. If a mechanic is free, they'll have him (or her believe it or not!) do oil changes if customers are waiting.

Just did my first free oil change on my 2016 Silverado z71. Truck has 4,000 miles on it, I wanted to change the intial oil sooner since the motor is still breaking in, in the earlier miles.

Best advice I can give is mark your oil filter!!!

 

Went in for my 2nd free oil change and after a extremely long wait I get my truck back and hurry home. got home and while walking away noticed through the wheel well i could see my oil filter with a layer of grime on it. i had only driven 3-4 miles so it was very obvious that the filter hadn't been changed.

 

Very pissed off I went back to the dealer who argued that their best tech did the oil change and was 100% certain that the filter had been changed and what i was seeing was dust from the filter setting on the shelf in the parts department lol. The dirt clearly lined up with the wheel well gap.

 

Anyways take a sharpie and put a inconspicuous mark on the filter and take a picture of it so if it happens you you will have them by the balls.

 

Also I recommend making an appointment. You'll have a shorter wait, but its not needed.
