Which one?

So I can pick up a s&b intake for my 16 5.3 that is almost brand new for $150 or I can get a K&N 63 brand new for $190. I have read all reviews but didnt see too many about the S&B but I like the fact it is enclosed. I've always had K&N and feel that there is a reason they are so popular and they have the funds to do a lot of research. My only other plans is possibly an exhaust and Diablo tune. Thoughts.

This is best performance & cost savings as tested by blackbear. It's what I went with and am thoroughly pleased.

The Airaid MIT is the clear winner according to dyno test! If you just want a CAI for the sound then get the open K&N kit but the airaid will give you better hp&tq gains.

Looks like i will be going with Airaid Is it worth the $50 to get the filter or should I just get the tube? My vehicle is brand new so the stock filter is clean. Thanks for all the advice.

I would just wait until it is time to swap the air filter at 45,000 miles unless you really want to swap it or get a good deal on it. I went with the K&N oil drop in air filter because I got $20 off and I like that I can clean it and reuse it....that and I am just used to having them lol.

You couldn't pay me to run a K&N or any other oiled filter. A giant, potentially sensor-damaging mess that filters worse than stock. I'd go with the MIT too. Ran one on my 2011.

Save your money and get the Diablo with a Lew tune. You will be very happy. If you feel the need get the air raid tube, but the tune will make a huge difference by itself.

I vote leave the intake alone until you have run out of other stuff to blow your money on :driving:

I do not believe any of them provide much benefit in performance or aesthetics unless you stand around with your hood propped open all the time. It is great to top off a headers+exhaust job but just slapping one ... meh better things to blow that cash on first.

Have ran oiled filters since 2004 and have never had any issues with them.

Only potential for damage is from over oiling the filter and having it drip off and mayne get to the MAF sensor.

oiled air filters let in more dirt, until they fill up with dirt and start restricting air flow.

They simply don't filter as well. Run the truck in a dusty environment and you'll almost always see dust in the intake.
