Toyo Open Country AT2

I probably should have posted and asked before dropping near $2,000 on new tires but I've been really busy with work and haven't been on the forum much.......

Does anybody have experience running the Toyo Open Country AT2's? I just ordered two sets, one for my 2010 and one for my 2008 Silverados.

LT275/65/18 and LT265/70/17 to replace my Cooper Discoverer AT3's on both trucks. The Coopers have served me well BUT the standard load tires I had on my 2010 caused a vibration/shake at highway speeds and tend to be all over the road once the tires were broken in. The issue was definitely the tires, had them rebalanced several times and mounted in different locations. I even swapped to the other truck and had the same issue.

With winter approaching I decided to just go with new tires of a different brand so there are no issues in the snow or ice.

The Coopers still have some life in them, about 5-6/32nds on both trucks but not enough to be comfortable through the winter. If it were summer approaching, I would not have been in a hurry to replace them. The Cooper AT3's are still priced right but I just don't want to have the vibration issues, it's annoying. I was going to go with the ATP this time around BUT I read some reviews of the same vibration/shake/shimmy with some of those tires as well. It seems like it's a roll of the dice with the Cooper tires. My 2008 was wearing LT's with no issues, they just wore rather quickly.

After searching from my iphone while at work, I decided to go with Toyo this time around and see how they work out. Any experience, negative or positive would be great. Just want to know what to expect and to prepare for any issues these tires may have.

The appearance of the Open Country AT2's was a huge factor in buying them, I think they look like a pretty tough tire, especially along the sidewall. My decision came down to Toyo and the BFG's and it was a $300 difference between the two so I went with the least expensive option, hopefully I didn't make a mistake.

You can't go wrong with TOYO open country AT2's, I had them on my last 2 trucks. They have great traction in the winter, wore very even and you can't beat a 60,000 tread life warranty.

I also made the switch from Cooper AT3's to Toyo AT2's. I ran 275/65/18 6-ply LT Coopers for 50k miles and was very pleased with them. They wore really well, and performed great in all conditions. My only complaint was that they just didn't look very aggressive. That was the main reason I went with the Toyo this time around. Although the tread is similar, the Toyo looks much more aggressive. I've got around 15k on my Toyos at this time, and I'm very pleased with them so far.

Toyo's finally installed and couldn't be happier so far. They look great, much more aggressive than the Coopers and they feel more responsive while turning.

They are definitely louder at highway speeds on concrete roads and they do not cause the truck to shake like the Cooper AT3's did. They didn't take near as much weight to balance and they don't wonder at speed, truck tracks straight when letting go of the steering wheel.

Hopefully they will perform well throughout the winter but pleased so far.
