Door Lock Knob Removal

Hi everyone,

New to the forum. I own a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali crew cab. I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with...

I purchased two pairs of the All Sales polished aluminum door lock knobs (the lock posts that stick out of the top of the interior of the doors) to replace the plastic ones that came with the truck. I thought the knobs would twist off like the door lock knobs on older cars. I have tried twisting the knobs in either direction, almost to the point where it feels like I'm going to break them off. The last thing I need is to keep twisting the OE knobs and break one off in the door.

Has anyone else changed the door lock knobs in his or her truck and is there a trick to doing it?

Thanks for you help!

Are these new lock knobs for look or function? It has been many years since I have used them and thought they now were more of a mechanical back-up to the power locks.

Not really a back up, on the trucks if you pull on the inside door handle twice while the door is locked it will pop the lock post up and the door will open. Kind of like how on a Ford if you pull on the inside door handle it unlocks the door and it opens.

Yes, I was wondering if the OP was aware of this. I do not know what the use of these knobs are unless they work in the event of a "power failure".

I think the manual lock inside on all of the doors is a safety issue. That way nobody can get locked inside the vehicle without a way out. I'd imagine they might have a hell of a lawsuit if someone got stuck inside a vehicle without a manual override of sorts.
