Looks good. I have no rake on my truck bc I levelled the rear, maybe that is why my tailgate releases on its own. Try adjusting the latches/strikers

Thanks and I'll give that a try as I noticed the left side top of the tailgate does not line up with the side of the bed so something definitely needs adjustment.

One thing I forgot to mention is I found my truck sends out a double pulse for each click of the key fob so I just programmed the TR7 for twice the amount of pulses I actually wanted and it works fine.

can you take a picture of the right side hinge of your tailgate? I rememer looking at soft opening option before I purchased my 2016, its a little unit under the right rear tail lamp and goes through the sheet metal and attaches to the tailgate.

unless its a different hinge like the GMT-900 trucks, but if its the same you might be able to add it.

Found something interesting tonight...after putting the truck in park I realized I needed to move up a little so I put it back in drive, pulled up, put it back in park and the tailgate came open! I'm guessing the trigger is seeing multiple pulses from the auto locking/unlocking feature however I tried it several times (slower/faster/waited past the 7 second timer I have set etc) and can't find any distinct pattern as sometimes it drops on the second time it goes into park while other times it drops on the third time it goes into drive etc.. Any ideas what may be causing this?

Maybe just increase the number of pulses...it's a pain but def better than inadvertent drop

First thought is what are the pulses? They are positive voltage right?

Is it doing it every time?

I'm toying with the idea of throwing a resistor on the pac to see if it's interference or something.

Also, check this pin on the bcm. It should be ground. Wire that as your negative on the actuator relay. That will stop any actuation while out of park. That should suffice until I find the actual problem. I'm very curious now. Can you repeat and video?

Make sure to verify it is ground, I didn't follow the print. Gotta get back to work

You can also change the auto unlock to driver only and switch to unlock circuit for signal. If this isn't too inconvenient for family/passengers to have to tug door handle twice or you hit unlock for them to get out.

I drive 85% alone so this would work for me. Either option is viable but I'm still checking. Sorry for multiple responses but I'm a little busy and throwing things in as I think of it.

Just don't understand how you hit 5 signals at double pulse parking....but def don't need it happening if you have a trailer that would damage the tailgate. I say this because I tow and I'm doing this soon.....

Also looking into how bcm knows there's a trailer and might figure a way to disable the feature when a trailer is detected....thoughts?

So I've tried positive negative and everything else and found the unlock circuit powers up and Keeps voltage on it and varies during subsequent unlock inputs. With the voltage staying on, the PAC module waits for the pulse to finish to complete the cycle and turn the timed output on.

Later tonight I'm going to test the theory but essentially what I'm going to do is put a normally closed relay on the trigger circuit that will break when I press the brakes. If it is always when on the brakes, this should eliminate the false positive. The only concern I have is that multiple presses of the brakes might set it off...however, I don't think it's likely we would hit and release the pedal 5 times in 5 seconds.

In theory this change should break the never ending input pulse time and restore the PAC module to normal operation.

So i solved it. It's pretty simple and requires an additional relay. Essentially run the power wire thru 86a (normally closed) term on a Bosch relay and trigger it to break when the brake lights are triggered. Tap that in the trailer harness. That breaks the pulse cycle and allows the tr7 to function normally.

I can write this up for anyone or prebuilt an entire kit for $200 that you just tap the described wires and install. I'm happy to help anyone to get it to work.

With the relay I described, you can turn the option on and off with the unlock light feedback option in the hmi of the truck. Essentially I designed it to be able to turn it off while towing or anytime to prevent accidental drop. When unlocking, the courtesy lights come on so you know the remote worked. When the light feedback option is on, the brake/turn signals flash, which would break the relay. When the option is off....a triple unlock will drop the tailgate. If there is enough requests, I'll edit a write up the solution. I'll sell the prewired/programmed PAC module kit for $200 plus shipping. I'll post video explanations upon request.

For anyone who wants the why behind the science....

The Silverado works on a variable voltage "wake" up lock pulse system. The first pulse wakes it and it stays at 5v which in effect locks the PAC into a waiting for pulse finish state. This negates the 5 second pulse count timer and makes it drop upon park when the pulse finishes.

The brake light break circuit relay restores timer and also prevent tailgate from dropping while driving and further allows us the ability to turn the mod off/on with a setting within the vehicle. The setting idled the effect us because courtesy lights tell us remote worked.
