2004 Chevy C4500 6.6 L

Original complaint was "heard starter solenoid clicking but would not turn over".

I tested started, it was bad. So I replaced the starter. Still solenoid click, with no start. I tested the batteries, discovered a broken battery post. So I replaced the battery, and cleaned up: all battery connections, all starter connections, battery-to-frame ground, engine-to-frame ground, and terminals at starter. Still the same problem, so I then replaced engine-to-frame ground strap, due to excessive corrosion. Still the solenoid will click but won't start.

I got a brand new AC Delco starter then they sent over a re-man to see if it was a bad starter that they sent me. No luck with either.

What else should I be looking at? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Neutral safety switch ... but normally if those go, they won't send power to the relay/solenoid. At least that's how Ford does it. I can't keep up with all the different crap on these electronic wonders these days ... so wouldn't hurt to check that out.

Either the switch could be bad, or it's somehow out of adjustment.

The voltage was 12v to the starter i found a ground on the side of the frame that i thought had nothing to do with the starter i cleaned it off and tried to start it and boom cranks every time

Yep - my internet diagnosis skills are lacking ...

Gotta start with the basics before diving into safety switches! I'd forget my own name if it weren't on my driver's license. :D

Glad you figured it out.
