Lock to spare tire winch how to remove?

We recently bought a 2007 Silverado 1500 LTZ. I found there is a lock in the tube to the spare tire winch. Ignition key does not work in it ( same for tailgate lock).ignition key does not work in it either.

 

Any suggestions to remove this lock so I can acess the spare tire when needed? I am thinking if I can remove the tube that goes the winch I can just pound it out from the back. I can see how to diconnect the tube at the winch, but not the other end at the bumper.

 

I am aso thinking it may drill easy enough too.

Sounds like the truck had a new ignition put in. I would get a locksmith to help out with getting a new key.

Sounds like someone change the ignition. try the dealership or a locksmith . gm had a ignition recall on some units

It turned out the lock was badly corroded. I drilled the plastic tube and punched the lock tab up to get it out. Then cleaned and lubed it and got it working. Forward O-Ring was missing, so I replaced it. I plugged the hole I drilled with black silicone.

 

Next I pulled the tailgate lock and found it too, was corroded to the point the key was not going all the way in. I got it freed up, lubed, and reinstalled.
