Muffler change?

Hey guys and gals.

So who knows of a company that just sells a muffler swap for the 2014+ 6.2 liter V8 in the Sierra/Silverado's.

I just want a bit more of a growl from this truck. It's too quiet, but I definitely don't want some loud exhaust with drone.

So I'd love to just swap out the muffler for one that allows a tiny bit of growl too it (on par with the Borla Touring, etc.)

Borla seems to only sell cat-back systems, not just mufflers alone.

I haven't called them to ask yet, but if you know of a company that has a nice muffler with a bit of a growl to it for these 6.2's, please guide me along.

Thanks

Go on YouTube there are plenty of videos of Borla mufflers on the newer trucks. I'm going with an XR1 on my 2014 with a 5.3. You can buy mufflers by them selves at Summit or Jegs.

Borla 40085

I heard a few of them on youtube. Not sure if they changed the main huge muffler or the 2nd smaller muffler when adding the 40085?

Or if they are changing more than just the one muffler with the 40085.

I just did a muffler swap. I still have all of my cats and resonators. Just swapped the trashcan muffler pit for the 40085. There is just a little more rumble. You can actually hear the exhaust not but it's not loud. You can still fall asleep inside the vehicle at wide open throttle

So the 40085 muffler replaces the gigantic main muffler but you left the smaller round 2nd resonator/muffler in the rear?

FYI for your exhaust shop, this is not a direct swap muffler; that muffler has 3" inlet you have a 3.5" inlet

Seriously, so they need to make a downsized pipe?

That's kind of a bummer, not sure I want to downsize the inlet pipes restricting more air going into the first muffler.

Yes. Just muffler swap. And the flapper valve is deleted as well

Behind the stock muffler. Literally right after the muffler

Wonder if they will make one of these Borla's with a 3.5" inlet so it's not restricting any air flow going into the muffler, like the stock pipe size?

Driver I have the Magnaflow 12909 on my 6.2 and really dig it. Not too loud but sounds good at startup and when you gas it. Best of all any competent exhaust shop can cut off the stock muffler and exhaust flapper valve and weld the new muffler in place.

These have 3.5" I/O, others are out there too listed these as they are brands for systems or mufflers I have used in the past.

Borla 40086

Borla 401012

Magnaflow 12909

Dynomax 17517

Watch removing the flapper if no plans for tuning out V4.

Also keep in mind there is a science to exhaust from OEM and aftermarket, that's why some that just hack off parts have issues with drone and resonance, not that you can't get them with a complete system.
