Removing 2nd (smaller) muffler in 2014+ 6.2....

Has anybody removed the 2nd, smaller muffler located alongside the rear passenger wheel and replaced it with a straight pipe?

 

If so, how's the sound?

 

I'm still trying to decide how to make the new 6.2 have a bit of rumble, but without making it loud or adding annoying drone. My wife likes the truck quiet, but too me, it's almost NOT truck like being so quiet.

Resonator helps with the drone, especially if you dont have AFM disabled. most people are chopping the muffler and leaving the resonator. I have also heard of people leaving the cat-back stock and installing mid or long tube heabers. My friends 5.3 has muffler delete, not loud at all but sounds more like a truck should.

Swapped my muffler for a Borla being welded in. I left the flapper and resonator. With the flapper pinned open the drone was annoying. Now it has a nice rumble but not overbearing.

I had a magnaflow installed on my 14 6.2. Cut out the stock muffler to the tailpipe and had the 12229(I think) installed. I love it. Not loud, no drone, and fairly quiet at idle

So basically you had a catback system from Magnaflow installed?

Did the Magnaflow replace just the larger main muffler and go straight pipe all the way back out removing the stock 2nd smaller muffler/resonator as well, or did magnaflow system replace both stock mufflers with two of their own?

Magnaflow makes systems with and without resonators

I used the 22" muffler from my '11 Yukon kit deleted the resonator went 3.5" pipe out the side

That's a good idea.

I heard the pre 2014 trucks with the 6.2 had exhaust systems that had more of a growl to it.

Maybe if I find a pre-2014 muffler from someone who put an aftermarket system on.

I'd just want the mufflers if they have more of a growl.

Mine was just the muffler back, I have a 22" magnaflow in place of the stock muffler ran to a 5" tip dumped over the axle. The rest of the exhaust is now headers and ORY
