Bedslide over Bedrug?

Has anyone installed a Bedslide over a Bedrug? If so any tips on the install? My Bedslide just came in and I'm planning to install it myself soon. I got the 1000lb classic model.

Guess I'll be the first. Local shop told me they cut sections out of the rugs but I'm thinking I'll mount it directly through the rug. Not keen on cutting sections out of my new Bedrug.

How thick is the bedrug? I can't imagine it would make a difference on mounting it.

Depends where the ridges in the bed are but I'd say half to 3/4's of an inch. I'm mostly concerned about getting it centered and drilling the holes since I can't see the bed through the Bedrug.

My suggestion would be remove the bed rug, line up the bed slide, drill your holes, remove bed slide, reinstall bed rug, poke holes through bed rug from under bed, mount bed slide on top of bed rug. It will take longer but it will line up perfectly. [emoji41]

I agree. Bedrugs are thick, soft and spongy (on purpose) and that's the last thing you want in the middle of a metallic joint. At the very least I'd cut away any of the through bolt locations and anywhere part of the slide are meant to rest on the bed supporting weight. The bedrug doesn't serve much of a purpose once you get the slide in; if you don't want to cut it up you may want to just sell it.

 

I actually put a bedrug on my Cargo Glide. I used the Bed Mat version for use with drop-in liners, and cut it to fit. For all the reasons people like them in the bed, I like it on the slide.

I wanted the Bedrug for the clean consistent look it provides with my cap. I may even put Bedrug on my Bedslide.

Not bad actually. I have a factory drop in plastic liner already so, that'd probably have to go. Love your setup though. I wonder if I could just do a bedrug and then that rack.

It's mostly a rugged station wagon. At some point I plan to box in the sides for storage but the main use is just easy access to things stored near the cab. My 9 month old's stroller always ends up behind the groceries or other stuff. The truck is slightly lifted so it's hard for my wife (5 foot 2) to get anything out as it is. Beats having to climb in and crawl around. Those built-in bumper steps GM uses are awesome until you put a cap on and lose the stake pocket grab handles.
