Congratulations! I picked up mine this past May. LT Z71, 5.3, 3.42. Just rolled 7500k. I think you'll find the 5.3 more than adequate. Your truck will be lighter than and ext. cab, etc. Of course you already knew that. I get nothing but compliments.....And it fits in my garage!

Another great benefit is it gives you plenty of time to enjoy another beer while washing , they clean up quick.

Congrats and welcome to the club! I haven't towed with mine yet (I got the trailer package) but I'm sure it will do well. BTW, I wasn't as impressed with the 5.3L as I thought I would be at first however it really came alive after I learned here about turning off the traction control, stabiltrak and grade braking as well as driving in manual 5 to keep the AFM from kicking in (I'm still going to add the supercharger!).

Ive had two,Vortec on a 99 ford two years 100K miles one belt. Now a whipple on a 92 383 stroker in my chevy p/u . I've had this one 5years same belt, two year as a daily driver. I did slip the belt sometimes on the Vortec, my fault it was a stick and I put a smaller pulley on it and would over rev it trying to speed shift a truck tranny. Plenty of turbos on diesels no preference.

Experience varies, I drove mine hard and I had more issues.

 

Thanks for all the positive notes. Hopefully this will be my first and last new vehicle purchase. I take maintenance and care seriously. I drive my vehicles regularly.

Do you run it on E85? Ligenfelter proved on a dyno it picks up 30 more whp. You have to make sure the concentration is actually 85. During winter it can be hard to find true E85.

2016 Summit white W/T with 5.3, 6 Speed, and 3.42 with limited slip that was part of the trailer equipment package.

For now I'm staying in stealth mode with the factory steel wheels and stock ride height. Looks like just another municipal V6 work truck.

That's my plan as well, normal looking truck with some extra pep. The plan is eventually turbo. I love turbo trucks. The 2017 front end is my favorite so far. Good looking sporty truck.

Mine does not have the flex fuel option so I have never tried it.

I'm fairly positive the E85 is merely a option in the tuning from factory. It wouldn't cost much to turn it flex fuel. Don't run E85 if you didn't get the option.

My Vette weighs 3000lbs plus a small flat bed trailer. I'm not towing anymore than 5000 lbs total.

Tow 5,000 lbs. at least a dozen times per summer at 75 mph with ease. Truck is very stable and has plenty of brake too. Do not know about 8,000 lb or more rande tho.

If I was planning to tow more than just 1 car I would have looked at a bigger truck, but I have no need for it. The RCSB is still a large truck, at least to me.

You shouldn't have any issues. I know a guy who towed a 3rd gen camaro race car with an s10. Trans would get a little hot so he installed a cooler. No other issues whatsoever.

flex fuel option also adds an alcohol sensor so it can adjust tuning to the % alcohol currently in the tank.

 

Somewhere on here someone has posted how and what needs to be added to make the conversion.
