Hey Guys im new to the site, I have been looking through the site for years but finally decided to sign up. I recently purchased a GMC Sierra 2015 2500HD and noticed the stock head light bulbs and fog light bulbs suck. I had a 2012 chevy silverado before the 2500 that I had HIDs in and then swapped out LED bulbs in the headlights/fog lights and absolutely loved them. Going from the nice bright LEDs to the crappy stock bulbs in new 2500hd really sucks. Was wondering what kits yall are using in the headlights/fog lights???

I installed the Morimoto 35W HID kit, 5500k bulbs, and relays. Medium difficulty install due to a few items to remove and some tight working space but pretty straight forward. Very satisfied with the light output.

 

No false bright light flashes from oncoming traffic (one or twice as I've come over a hill) - very crisp line with low beams.... brights are like driving the SUN.

I have a Silverado but also have the Marimito HID kit, mine is 55W, super bright, had some minor issues with firing at one point, but hasn't came back after a fixed one loose wire...

 

I also swapped the High with Marimito LED's throw is about the same as stock but looks better and local light is much stronger... On the Silverado, highs and lows are two separate bulbs that can be turned on together...

xenon-depot.com kit, was recently $185 for the complete kit. Took a few hours to install due to pulling grill and headlight assemblies out, there is drilling required on the headlights due to the way the wires are concealed inside. They work great and the kit is good quality. Different color options are available for light temperature.

Ive ordered previously from ddmtuning for hids but had problems with flickering and eventually led to a bulb not turning on. So I'm debating going with hids again. Y'all have any problems with hids and daytime running lights??

I've contacted DDM, but got no reply. I saw another post tonight where they used the Xenon Depot HIDs.

Really? I think the headlights and fogs on my 2015 are worlds better than my 2008. I think I ready about a tech document about reprogramming the voltage at the lights.

That's what I'm leaning towards, I really wish they came with LEDs stock but it doesn't seem to be that expensive of an upgrade and from the pictures people have been posting it makes a world of a difference.

Aftermarket LED's are nice but still lack the lumens compared to HID's. The best kit on the market for these trucks is by Diode Dynamics IMO. I first ordered a Morimoto set from another reputable place and had issues after a few months. First it was the bulb harness with bad connections at the bulbs, which Morimoto changed styles to fix (sent new bulbs). Then it was one bad ballast followed by another bulb in 8 months with flickering issues (not reliable). While the seller was great and took care of all my issues by warranty I'm not impressed with the Morimoto kits. I've had my Diode Dynamics kit for almost the same time, 8 months and couldn't be happier. Output is great and they fire up every time.       Transmission jumping out of gear while driving.

      Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?

      Missing thrust bearing? And oil selection

      Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.

      Weird click noise when revving my truck?

      Hello Guys I'm new to the form,         I just put a 7-inch Rough Country lift on my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3 and I also put a Borla exhaust on it. But I noticed when I'm in park or in neutral and then I rev my truck up really quick there is a bad click noise and I think it's coming from the motor somewhere. Anyways I got a video of it I will attach below I was just wondering if you guys think its rod knock or lifter tick or something like that because I know the AFM kind of made the lifters weak on these trucks.       Thanks!!!!!
